Overall, the G9II is quite simply a brilliant camera, and using it for a couple of weeks simply served to remind me why I like Micro Four Thirds so much. For existing MFT users looking to upgrade to the latest technology, it’s an obvious recommendation and a very strong alternative to the OM System OM-1. But equally, it would be an excellent choice for anyone interested in assembling a portable yet highly capable setup, just as long as you can tear yourself away from the cult of full-frame.

The G9 II can shoot 60 frames per second with the electronic shutter, and has eight stops of inbuilt stabilization. I can walk handheld and still keep a beautiful, stable shot. The G9 II features phase hybrid autofocus, which is unbelievably sharp and accurate, and shoots 5.7K at 60 frames and 4K at 120 frames. These are just a fraction of the features that make the G9 II an absolute weapon.

Unite il tutto ad un sistema compatto e leggero (dato dalle OTTICHE ovviamente, non dal corpo macchina, che comunque resta abbastanza leggero e con un grip eccellente, a differenza della 6700), ad un IBIS interno per foto e video veramente efficace e a caratteristiche video da prima della classe, capirete che per tanti potrebbe essere una scelta ottima, anche se non è FF e ha il sensore "piccolo"!

Glad I made this purchase before Trump imposes a tariff on camera gear.I couldn’t resist the purchase price. I bought the camera for less than it is selling for used. I did buy the ND filter in addition to two class II memory cards. I own the G9 and love it. The G9ii has so many video features I will never use as I only do photography. I bought the camera for the PDAF. It doesn’t disappoint.

The latter camera is a hybrid marvel when it comes to both photo and video (4K and 120 FPS HD) in a small and lightweight body. Try capturing a handheld video with panning using a Sony (e.g., the zv1 or the a7c); it's quite challenging.

For me, the G9II is the camera I've been waiting for. Especially because of the improved autofocus. I will keep my GH5 and GH6 and complement them with the G9II. I have some very good MFT lenses. Therefore, switching to 35mm format is out of the question for me. I can cope with the two stops of noise with excellent AI denoising techniques in Lightroom and Pureraw.

The G9II is a great camera but as with any system there are strengths and weaknesses. It is also quite a technical camera, the menus are complex and learning to get the most out of it can take a bit of time. Personally I’d recommend it if the price is right, but full-frame cameras are really in vogue right now, especially if the photographer is chasing that look.

But, after seeing several video samples of the Panasonic G9ii, I would have no problem adding the G9ii to my gear. I started out on the GH5. And I've always thought Panasonic captured the best skin tones compared to most camera brands. It's that ability to capture great skin tones along with the other great features of the G9ii that keeps me looking at it.

The G9II is just a very refined G9. No doubt about it. The G9 was, and remains, a great camera but the G9II is a better camera all round. The G9 would be a bargain because after a long popular season the street price became a bargain. Therefore the G9II was always going to be regarded as 'expensive' because the latest tech does not come cheap.

The G9ii (as well as the S5iix) have made me look at Panasonic, again. While I am now shooting with the Sony FX30, I've always liked the skin tones out of Panasonic cameras most. Add the fact that the G9ii can record to an external SSD is huge - for me. Plus, with very reliable PDAF, the G9ii is looking pretty tasty.

An impressive camera with many expected features but also bonus features including the near and far autofocus that I would love to try. I really found the contrast against the canon, sony and olympus very informative. Fascinating that the buffer can be constrained in this way by the write speed of the SD cards.

This review seemed very fair and what I expected. Basically the camera excells at everything but low light photography. The tradeoff is you can get unexpected handheld shots without a tripod, that would be nearly impossible with the weight and limited stabilization of full frame cameras and lenses.

A 50F1.8 for 180, 45F1.8 for 150 and 12-32 (tiny one for jacket use!) for 100€ Benefit on M4/3 GH6/G9II also: All modes no crop! So I have C1-4 on: 6k, 4k50, 4k120, FHD300 (slight crop). So I can switch shooting something immediatly from 3:2 down to 300p with no change in fov.

All the expectations you are projecting onto the new G9 II would, in my view, mean an egg-laying wolf-milk sow and would result in an extremely expensive price. I think these expectations in abundance are unrealistic. Who would still want to buy a GH6, I ask myself.

Die G9II hat aber auch ihre Vorzüge, der AF für Personen ist besser, die G9 II ist der bessere Hybrid was die Videografie angeht und der Buffer unterstützt eine längere hohe Serienbildgeschwindigkeit. Letzendlich ist nach meiner Meinug gerade für die Natur- und Wildlifefotografie die OM-1 im Ganzem die bessere MFT Kamera.

I definitely think the double dial on the G9 was a genious idea so it liberates the right shoulder making it available for the top screen. This is a big loss and downgrade to me: one feature less but with no gain in terms of compacity or ergonomics. I can't see any benefit of having separated dials.

This camera is in a real sweet spot if you wanna save some money. It almost has everything that the GH7 has unless you want Pro Res and all that. 4K@120fps without any crop is brilliant. I haven't had any heating issues as I never do continous recording at that frame rate. Who would I wonder.

I took a very hard look at the G9II and I think if my needs were different, I might have gone for it (over the OM-1) but in the end decided I wished to stick with full-frame stills but would go back to shooting S35 for video. Which is what I am doing.

Thank you for taking time to share your view. I am currently around 80 000 photos in, and while the camera has its issues (slow first start of the day), it is my most loved so far and I trust it for professional use (portraits/dog sports/fine art).

I have both and I’m so conflicted with which one I like better and want to use as my primary system. I love the way I have customized the controls to do what I want on the G9ii, but I still like the “feel” of the OM-1 better than the G9ii.

I have both cameras and ther G9II has much better video capabilities, especially in slow motin, 4k 120p with autofocus. Something, the OM 1 can not do. 120p on the OM1 is only HD and has no autofocus.
