R50 is definitely above entry level 😂😂😂 I do photography a d use an R50 and prime lenses and also zoom lenses R50 is muchhhh more advanced than any canon rebel series I know other professionals photographers who use the R50 as well and they do it for a living It has way more options and settings and controls than any Rebel and better than the M50 and M50 mark ii R50 is passed beginner and easily used in professional settings and shootsWatch J

If you want a nice starter camera but are on a budget, this is a good option, but you will have to make some sacrifices to keep your costs down. It has a crop sensor, which means it won’t be as great in low light and it will crop the focal length of your lenses. For example, if you put a 35mm lens on, it will become a 56mm lens. There is also only one card slot. But, even though it’s cheaper thanRead E
Canon’s 24-megapixel EOS R50 is the company’s third APS-C camera to launch in the EOS R mount ecosystem, and it’s mighty for the size and price. Weighing just 375 grams and packing a built-in flash, it’s extremely portable so it’s great for travel, parties, street photography and more. At the same time, it can shoot images at up to 15 fps, outputting high-quality, skin-friendly photos.Watch K
The R50 is a lot of camera for the money. No question. The only problem I have with it is that it costs twice as much as I paid for an R100. I was looking for a good point and shoot camera when I stumbled on the R100 on sale direct from Canon for less than the cost of a descent point and shoot camera. The Canon R50 (base model) seems like a bargain mirrorless camera, but in 2025, it just doesn’t hold up. Its autofocus system struggles in low light and when tracking moving subjects, and you’ll quickly hit limits with frame rate, control customization, and video features . The newer Canon R50 V is a better choice for creators thanks to its improved usability and vlogging-friendly updates.Read C
Say hello to your new favorite camera. The Canon EOS R50 V And trust me, this camera is a serious upgrade from your smartphone.Watch T
I've quickly come to love it. It feels like I'm doing something illegal or immoral, getting such wonderful pix with the tiny camera and huge pro lens. It's a wonderful successor to the M50 which was super in its own right. I'm so glad that Canon has put a lovely sensor in the R50 and that it handles eye tracking AF so well, with the right settings. It's a fun camera that's a joy to use.Watch C
The Canon EOS R50 V was built for creators who move fast and want their footage to keep up. Dedicated vertical mount to capture vertical video. Capture in 10-bit Canon Log. Plug in your mic. Swap out lenses.Watch G
I like this camera but I will be less enthusiastic than on some point : - the lens is not a great lens. 14mm is not enough low especially if you want to use the digital stabilisation (crop problem) 11 or 12mm should be better. Then the quality is ok, but not as great as you said (we are far from the L series, but it's not the same price) - the screen controls luminosity is a joke.Watch C

EOS R50 V Review: vlogging value, with a catchWatch A
Canon has a long history of making entry-level cameras that are pleasant to use and perform well, and the EOS R50 stays true to the tradition. It’s small and light yet comfortable in your hand , and while somewhat shy on physical controls, the excellent touchscreen interface largely compensates for this. It also delivers consistently attractive JPEG files direct from the camera.Read C

Two big problems with the R50 related to stills. And both of these are not a huge deal unless you are into wildlife photography or a serious photog who likes complete control over your kit. 1. It only has one dial so running in full manual mode has a horrible workflow. Set your shutter speed, then hit a button, then set your aperture, then hit a button, then set your ISO.Watch T
It's one of the easiest and most affordable cameras for beginners and casual users.Watch T
I love the Canon R50, but with that said, I already own 3 high end Canon cameras for my professional work. However, I chose the R50 because with the adapter, I can still use all my EF and EF-S lenses on it. The main reason I bought the R50 is for street work with my R24mm f/2.8 which comes out to about 38mm on APC. Perfect for street photography IMHO.Watch V
Overall, the Canon EOS R50 is a versatile and high-performing camera that is sure to impress photographers and videographers of all levels. Whether you're a professional looking for a new tool to add to your kit, or a hobbyist looking to upgrade your gear, the Canon EOS R50 is definitely worth considering.Watch R r/canon u/Lazy_Plate_ · owner
R50 is interesting. It’s 15 fps RAW. But the buffer fills in 7 shots. So really, it can only shoot 15 fps for a half a second. I have seen people confused and frustrated about this when they purchased the R50 for the high speed shooting. JPEG only or even CRAW you get some extra buffer space. Guessing many (most?) R50 buyers are jpeg shooters though.Read E

Cheap video-centric mirrorless – Canon EOS R50 V : Another great budget-friendly vlogging option is the mirrorless EOS R50 V, which offers a stripped-back and compact body that's ideal for content creation when paired with a suitable lens. The short answer: the Canon R50 is one of the easiest beginner mirrorless cameras to recommend. It makes sense if you want better photos than a phone, reliable autofocus, a viewfinder, and simple 4K video. It is less convincing if you already know you want deep manual controls, in-body stabilization, weather sealing, or a large lens ecosystem.Read F

My girlfriend and I have been really enjoying it. We mainly use it for car photography and to capture the places we visit while traveling. I am loving my Canon R50. Your videos on how to set up the camera were super helpful. I have been using it to take photos of my kids sports. The Canon EOS R50 is an APS-C mirrorless camera positioned at the entry level of Canon’s RF system lineup. I own an R8 and an R50. the R50 is so good as a travel camera. It has a great sensor, and the camera is so small. 28mm lens on the R50 and you can totally fit it in the pocket and you're set for street photography. The R50's video is great as well and will fit on small gimbals for a portable package and smooth footage.Watch J

The Canon EOS R50 is Canon's best entry-level APS-C mirrorless camera for photographers and travel vloggers — but it has real flaws you need to know about before buying. Here's my full hands-on review vs. the M50 Mark II.Watch C
The one thing that the R50 is missing is the one lens that made the M50 a category killer: the EF-M 22 mm f/2.0 STM. Until and unless Canon releases an RF mount equivalent, the R50 is an also-ran. Right now, the M50 MkII with the 22 mm lens is still unbeatable for a compact camera with a proper viewfinder.Watch S

After having my much more expensive camera gear stolen out of my car I had to replace it with much 'cheaper' equipment because of affordability and settled on the R50. Thank goodness I did as it matches or out performs the expensive stuff I had. I have two kit lenses but the Tamron 28 to 300 shines.Watch M

I recall watching another YT on the R50. He consistently was getting soft images - sort of like Canon was producing a softer image to make people look better (or maybe less wrinkly LOL). It appears much the same for colors. Canon R50 is geared to the TT audience that uses video SOOC.Watch K
Clarification: I said the R50 has no image stabilization. I was referring to in body image stabilization. It DOES have digital stabilization, but my experience is that for video it's jerky and not useful for serious work. I still highly encourage stabilizing your R50 with lenses that feature image stabilization.Watch C
Better off buying a second hand 5D Mk4 or something like that. It's so sad watching a once venerable camera company try to convince everyone that AF is all that matters. It's like putting a Ferrari engine in a milkfloat. The milk gets to you quick but all the bottles will be broken.Watch B
For most people asking whether it beats the R50 enough to justify the difference, it usually does not.Watch F
I love my R50 and yes, I use an external monitor. SmallRig now sells an R50 cage. With a mini-rig and and a 90 degree micro HDMI cable, I have found it to be comfortable to use. Having dual pixel autofocus in 4k without additional crop makes the R50 a pretty nifty camera.Watch W
It's an ideal beginner camera or for those looking to step away from DSLRs such as the EOS 250D or EOS 70D and into mirrorless cameras. It's also an ideal camera for people who are currently using a phone and want to improve their photography.Watch C Camerajabber Camera Jabber Team · reviewer
