Had my R50v for a few weeks. The photos and video are bonkers good. Even in so-so lighting, I zoom way in and the pixels are still really excellent quality. In studio light it's razor sharp down to the peach fuzz. I just use it for BTS videography, but if I needed a budget do-it-all for 50/50 photo/video, I don't know of a better candidate. I did get the R7 purely for the photos though for the photo tailored features.Watch T

All in all it’s a crazy capable camera for relatively cheap. If the Canon R50 (non-V) is the same with AF etc., I don’t understand why people don’t recommend it. I guess they never held the camera in their hand and used it extensively. its a perfect starter/imidate/pro camera in my opinion. its so good that for most of the stuff you skill will be the bottelneck.Read C

I was planning to get the Canon R50 V as it is the cheapest, but seeing the poor low light performance really put me off. I bet my smartphone can do better. The Sony A6700 has better AF and video, but the Fuji’s colors, white balance and overall quality really blew me away. It’s also cheaper than the Sony A6700. Thank you for the comparison!Watch C

You shouldn't consider R50V - BAD Battery Life (LP-E17 again) - Limited Lenses from third parties (RF) - Expensive RF STM lenses, not good quality on STM - Crazy expensive RF USM L, RF VCM, RF PZ optically superior than old EF USM and the longer end - 4K 60p Cropped factor 1.Watch T
I spent over a hundred hours using the Canon R50V as my main content and creative camera. And honestly, I'm conflicted. It's easily the most affordable and beginner-friendly option there is, but it does have a few design flaws that are genuine deal-breakers. And there's a new kind of camera that fixes most of these issues, which means the R50V might not be worth buying anymore.Watch J
I personally think that the Canon R50V is the best beginner camera. The Canon R50V is currently cheaper than the original Sony ZV E10 which doesn't have 10 bit and 4k 60fps. What is keeping the R50V back is the limited lens selection. Canon and Sigma RF lenses are expensive.Watch E

I have one, weirdly enough, it's great for photos. The autofocus is decent and it can burst until the cows come home, so worked out rather well. It's a bit annoying I can't set one of the C modes to photo (like I did on my S5), but I usually stick to Av or Tv anyway.Read W

I accidentally bought the R50v instead of the R50 and was so bummed because all the videos I kept seeing were saying the 50 is for photos and 50v is for videos but after watching this I’m super excited to play with it and make it my own 🥹🙌🏽 thank you a million!Watch T
Some of these tests are slightly skewed because of the glass that I had on both cameras. I used the Canon RFS 18 to 45 millimeter f4.5 to 6.3 on the R50V and the Sony 16 to 50 millimeter f3.5 to 5.6 on the end of the Sony which is also the kit lens. And I also used the Sigma 10 to 18mm f/2.8 on both cameras so we could get a real apples to apples test.Watch C
Speaking as an ecstatic R50V owner, you'd be crazy not to buy a DJI for vlogging. The R50V is great for photography and videoing other subjects, especially with a set of lenses. But for vlogging your own mug on a stick, you just possibly can't beat a gimbal.Watch T
Now, we have to remember that both of these cameras are very capable cameras, especially in different lighting situations, but there are subtle differences between both of them, and that's what we need to try to figure out. This way, you can make an informed camera purchasing decision. This is not a biased review. This isn't being sponsored by Sony or by Canon.Watch F
The EOS R50 V is certainly not flawless. Autofocus sometimes struggles, and advanced video formats are lacking. Still, it’s important to view its performance in light of the target audience. For them, the camera offers enough options.Read F

So, with this set to high, you're essentially not going to have any overheating issues with the R50V. If you were in any sort of warmer environment or even just standard room temperature environments, the R50 would overheat pretty quick. The truth is that the R50V and the original R50 are pretty much the same exact camera, but the V stands for video. So, it does have a few extra features that make it pretty awesome for filmmakers and videographers. But the problem is that it lacks some basic photography features that are found in the R50.
