About stierproducts
One tier list per product category, built from other people's reviews and showing its working. Here is who makes it and what it is worth.
stierproducts publishes a single S-to-F board for each of 208 consumer product categories, covering 2741 ranked products. Every board is assembled the same way, by the same public formula, and every placement on it points at the sources it came from.
We do not test products
This is the most important thing to know about us, so it goes near the top rather than in the small print. Nobody here unboxes a vacuum cleaner, runs a monitor through a colorimeter, or takes an action camera down a river. We own none of the products we rank and we have hands-on experience of almost none of them.
What we do is read the people who do test them. Each category is researched in several independent runs, each looking through a different lens (expert consensus, value, reliability, and what owners actually report). Each run reads current expert reviews and owner reports and ranks a board of candidates. Those placements score on a ladder, and the tiers fall out of the ladder position. No tier is ever typed in by hand. The methodology page spells all of that out, including the numbers.
So treat a board here as a well-sourced summary of expert opinion, not as a test report. If you need to know how a specific unit performed on a specific bench, follow our citations to the outlet that actually measured it. That is what they are there for.
Every placement shows its sources
Each product page lists the sources behind its ranking, our reading of the stance each one took, and whether we could fetch the link. The tier beside an outlet is where we place its conclusion on our scale, not a score that outlet published. Citations that carry no usable URL still get a row, because a named outlet's opinion is real evidence, but they are listed last and left out of the count so the number next to “backed by” is only ever sources you can go and read yourself.
Boards also deliberately include products people cross-shop but probably should not buy, ranked honestly alongside the real picks rather than quietly dropped. A ranking that only contains good options tells you nothing about the bad ones.
How we make money, and what it does not buy
Some outbound links earn us a commission. No retailer or manufacturer can pay to move a product up a board, and whether a product carries an affiliate link has no bearing on where it lands. Nobody has ever paid us for a placement, and if that changes it will be disclosed on the board it affects. The full terms are on the affiliate disclosure page.
Where we are weakest
Coverage is uneven. Some categories are backed by a dozen outlets and some by two, and a board built on thin sourcing is marked as such rather than presented with the same confidence as a well-covered one. Prices and availability change faster than we re-research. And because our input is published reviews, we inherit their blind spots: products that reviewers ignore are underrepresented here too, however good they are.
Corrections
If a board is wrong, a citation misrepresents what an outlet said, or a link points somewhere it should not, tell us and we will fix it. Email info@stierproducts.com. Corrections to the underlying data are picked up the next time that category is re-researched, and the board's date changes with it.
Using our rankings
The boards are free to quote and reuse with attribution, under CC BY 4.0. Every board is also published as plain markdown and JSON for anyone who would rather parse it than scrape it. See reuse and citation for how to credit us.
