Hasselblad X2D II 100C
Hasselblad build quality and support reputation are arguably the best in the industry, and Wirecutter calls it the most refined medium format body available. It ranks last among the picks because the X2D II generation is too new to have a proven multi-year track record, and it serves a very narrow owner.

It offers superb image quality but its cost is prohibitive and it is weak for video and action, making it a poor fit for most buyers compared to more usable picks.

After weeks of use, the Hasselblad X2D II 100C has earned a permanent place in my kit. It’s not for every job, but for the work where image quality is non negotiable, it’s unparalleled. This camera is for the professional photographer — the portrait artist, the commercial shooter, the meticulous landscape painter with light — who views photography as a craft. It’s for those who are frustrated by the limitations of smaller sensors and want files that offer maximum creative flexibility. It’s an investment in your art and your business. The X2D II doesn’t just capture images it captures a feeling, a texture, a moment with breathtaking fidelity. And in a world saturated with images, that distinction is everything.Read J Justin Tse Justin Tse · 972K subscribers · Sept 2025
Some of the other tweaks such as the design and the grip are great to have, but I can see a lot of X2D users or previous generations see this as a very worthy upgrade if you're someone who uses Hasselblad in your main workflow.Watch A
Lastly, although a feature that often gets overlooked, I also truly appreciated Hasselblad’s approach to the menu system on the X2D II. It was drastically simplified and pared down compared to just about every other camera system. Instead of having to wade through page after page of options, there is a limited selection of icons that take you to straightforward settings. Plus, all essential things that might need to be changed while photographing can be adjusted without entering the menu system at all. It was a refreshing switch, and was again a surprise on a camera as robust as the X2D II.Read J Justin Tse Justin Tse · 972K subscribers · May 2026
So, from my photography experience, what are some of the improvements in the Hasselblad X2D 2 100C that benefit the type of photos that I shoot. I would say from my scenarios, I definitely experience the benefits of taking photos in low light, especially in the lower shutter speeds. On top of that, I found that the tilt display has been excellent. Having a brighter screen as well while I'm out and about and just having that versatility, being able to get a little bit lower in the angles and not feeling any limitations there has been amazing.Watch N
Even so, I am convinced that choosing the X2D II was the right decision because of the " benefits of powerful image stabilization and the ergonomic grip that allows for a deep hold ". On a 100-megapixel ultra-high-resolution sensor, micro-blur mercilessly destroys the resolution of a photo. The high yield in handheld snapshots and the grip that minimizes the burden on the right hand even during long shoots—in these two points, the advantage of the X2D II as a practical machine was overwhelming.Read M Matthias Dangl Matthias Dangl · 78.6K subscribers · Jun 2026
The X2D Mark II 100C has five axis in-body image stabilization, rated at 10 stops. To put that in context, the camera it replaces had seven stops. 10 stops means you're shooting at shutter speeds that should be physically impossible to handhold. And it delivers.Watch N
For digital cameras, bright red spider lilies bathed in sunlight are the most difficult subjects, as the red (R) channel of the sensor tends to saturate immediately, resulting in a 'flat, solid red blob.' However, I gasped when I saw the shots taken with the X2D II.Read F Future Teknos Future Teknos · 1.2K subscribers · Jul 2026
