Personally, I believe it could be the best Sony camera on the market as far as features and value. I will discuss the #sony A6100 sensor, processor, and autofocus for both photography and video.

i had the a6100 for a kinda long time, and I gotta say that even in 2026 is still good for photography (not video work cuz no slog). i tried last christmas a a6400 from a friend, and the 61 and 64 are just copy and paste. literally same performance etc.

But the a6400 is actually the pro version, and the a6100 is the beginner model. So, while they do have a lot of similarities, in the ways that really matter to serious photographers and video shooters, they actually have some pretty big differences. While there are tons of options out there, when you rule out the sub-500 dollar options (as they don't really provide more value than photography with a high-end phone), you're left with one clear winner: the Sony a6100. Short of a few features, it has one of the most diverse feature set with great room for growth with the camera body. We're talking sharp 4k and 5x slowmotion with 1080p 120fps.

Used an a6100 for a whole football season. Pretty solid little guy. AF was always real good, especially when you bind it to back button.

If you want something lower end on this spectrum of cameras that can do both very nicely. Both cameras have the 24 megapixel aps-c sized sensor. Of course, one is Sony, one is Canon. Canon has the dual pixel autofocus, but Sony's autofocus is extremely fast and definitely improved of their 6000 camera. I really don't think you'll have any concerns with autofocus with either camera.

The Sony a6100 offers insane quality for the price that you pay for it. The Sony a7III is in my opinion the best BUDGET SONY full frame you can get today without losing any quality. Both of these cameras have my highest recommendation for really anyone on the newer side of video production.

But I love this camera. Records in 4K. Um, the photos are amazing. The settings, they're very easy to learn, especially if you're more of a beginner. I have used cameras in the past. The camera that I used to have was the Sony, not Sony, it was the Canon Rebel T4. I'm forgetting what it's called. But girl, when I tell you this is really good for all occasions. It's good for concerts.
