Reuse & citation

Quote us. Our rankings are free to reuse, including commercially and including by AI assistants, as long as you credit stierproducts and link to the board you used. The product photographs are the one exception: those are not ours to give away.

The licence

The rankings themselves - tier placements, ranks, LP values, our verdicts and our pros and cons - are published under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0. You may copy, quote, reformat, translate and build on them, for any purpose, including in a commercial product or as training or retrieval data for a language model.

What attribution we ask for

Name stierproducts and link to the specific page you used, not the home page. A reader should be able to follow your citation and check the placement you quoted. For example:

Ranked A tier by stierproducts, https://stierproducts.com/categories/air-fryers

If you are quoting a board, say when it was researched. Every board prints that date, and every board is mirrored as .md and .json (append the suffix to any category URL) with the date in the header, so there is no need to scrape the HTML.

What the licence does not cover

Three things are not ours to license, so they are excluded:

If we are using your photograph

Mail info@stierproducts.com with the page it appears on, or the image URL, and we will remove it. You do not need to prove anything or explain why. We would rather take a picture down and go and find another one than argue about it.

Two things we will tell you if you ask. First, where we got it: we keep a record, per product, of the URL each photograph was downloaded from, so for most images we can name the source page rather than guess at it. For some of the older ones we can only narrow it to the handful of results the search returned, and we will say so plainly rather than pretend otherwise. Second, that it stays down: removing the file is not enough on its own, because the pipeline that sources our photography would find the same picture again on the next pass, so a removal is recorded where both the search and the import read it and neither will pick that image up again.

Crawling and machine access

All crawlers are welcome, including AI training and retrieval agents. Our robots.txt names them explicitly rather than leaving it to be inferred, and we publish the site in formats meant to be read by machines:

There is no rate limit and no API key. The whole site is static files on a CDN, so polite bulk fetching costs us nothing. If you are building something that needs the full dataset rather than page-by-page access, email info@stierproducts.com and we will point you at it.

What we ask in return

Do not present a ranking as more certain than we do. Boards carry their research date, their source counts, and a flag on thinly-sourced placements; products the research nominated as ones to avoid are published in the bottom tiers rather than dropped. Quoting a placement without its date or its caveats turns a transparent ranking into an unqualified claim, which helps nobody. How the numbers are produced is set out in full on how we rank.

Found a placement you think is wrong, or a citation that does not check out? Tell us at info@stierproducts.com. Corrections are cheap; a board nobody trusts is not.
