This Fujifilm X-S20 review is strongly positive because the camera is so rational. It may not have the visual romance of an X100 or X-E body, but it solves real problems: battery life, grip, stabilization, autofocus, and video flexibility. I would buy the X-S20 as a travel and hybrid camera before many more stylish Fujis. If your work is mostly stills and you want 40MP, look at the X-T50 or X-T5. If you want one compact Fuji body that handles a wide range of real-world work, the X-S20 remains one of the smartest choices in the system.

Anyway, first impressions of the Fujifilm X-S20. It's been a lot of fun to use. I of course I love to play with new toys, so maybe recency bias comes into play, but using it and having a Fujifilm XT4 to kind of compare it with, I do feel like there are some really cool changes and iterations toward this versus the XT4. So, first things first, I love to talk about how these cameras feel to use, and one of the biggest things that I love about it is the ergonomics.

I do not miss my X-T5 at all and consider the X-S20 an upgrade - the video looks way better, especially if you start taking at FHD 120fps. On the X-T5 120 fps was virtually unusable as it was so noisy. More mega pixels are not always better especially when it comes to video, and as I don't crop or pixel peep too much I can't see the difference in the photographs I am getting out of it.

The X-S20 is my only digital camera (I love it!) I have nothing else to compare the EVF to and I never really gave it much thought - though I do appreciate FujiFilm’s screen info layout, colors, etc. I wonder if I compared it side by side with a higher res EVF if I would immediately notice the difference? As it is, the viewfinder looks and works great for me!

I normally get the "professional" Fuji cameras - X-Pro, X-T models, but I just recently bought the X-S20 for video and love it! It really is a great lightweight travel hybrid camera that can absolutely do everything! It hasn't got the solid heavy build quality of the X-Pro and X-T so I thought I would hate it, but I was really surprised how much I like it.

It is the best camera that I have every used. On photographing birds in the close where I live, the bird tracking was very good and it even worked on a butterfly. I kept the X-E3 and it allows two cameras to be used with the X-E3 with the 18-55mm and the X-S20 with the 70-300 + 1.4 TC. This is to reduce the probability of getting dust on the sensor.

I am considering getting the X-M5 also thought as I love that super micro size ! Missing evf is a negative and I really wish it had a small flash for fill ins. grr.

Released earlier this year in March, the Fujifilm X-S20 stunned many with some rather unexpected features, particularly on the video front. The Fujifilm X-S10 was already an outstanding stills camera for its price point, so Fujifilm took things to the next level with the X-S20, making it one of the best budget cameras on the market.

The X-S20 is an excellent camera. Small, great ergonomics, powerhouse specs for the size and price. If you are truly a hybrid shooter (which it sounds like), this is the one to go for (unless you want to spend a lot more on an X-H2s, which is overkill for most people). Only thing I‘d maybe miss from it is weather sealing.

I also have the H2S and S20 for video work, really like the matching sensor/processor so images are the same. The only gripe I have for the S20 is it will overheat when I shoot anything over 4K24, so it's really just my second video cam during wedding ceremonies, and H2S is main cam for everything else.

I was initially going to buy the X-H2S to go along with my X-T4, but the X-S20 has changed my mind, and I'm getting one of those. With it being so much smaller/lighter with better 240p video and excellent battery life, it will be a great pair to the X-T4 when I need two bodies on a shoot.

I went back and forth between these two cameras, they are both really good APS-C options. I did a bunch of my own testing and since I planned to use one of these as my B-cam to do long 4k recordings I did some testing on overheating. In a warm room the A6700 does tend to overheat easier.

I've got one and it's a great camera. IBIS is great, quick and accurate AF with the new processor. Also, the Nostalgic Negative film sim is the best base ever. I picked-up the sigma 18-50mm f2.8 for it, and the camera is absolute unit of tiny and mighty power.

Personally I think it’s a great camera, with good ergonomics and features. I thought seriously about XS20 but got an XH2 simply because it fit my need at the time. But the I’ve never been a Fuji user for the DIALs! Or recipient. I’m here for the aperture ring.

The Fuji has 6.2k open gate, 2 more stops of IBIS, better webcam with film sims, no overheating in video, better battery, better screen, joystick, fuji colours, some unique great lenses - so that's a lot to love!

These new midrange mirror less cameras definitely punch above their weight. Spending 2x, 3x or 5x more on a camera has diminishing returns as they are not necessarily 2x, 3x or 5x better. The X-S20 is probably going to be my first Fujifilm camera, even though a part of me really just wants to splurge on GFX 100 ii. Is the GFX better? Definitely.

I pre-ordered the X-S20 over three years ago and love it. It is mostly used for nature photography and the large grip is indispensable when using the 70-300mm or the 500mm lens. When shooting animals I use pre-shot and burst mode and the camera can overheat when taking lots of photographs. The custom controls are really useful.

This would ve become my first camera if the A6700 didn t exist. I love the look and the film simulations but the Sony offers nearly the same things (partially better, partially worse) for quite a bit less money where I live and those 150€ I saved came in handy for accessoires and other things.

I love my X-S20 and mainly use it for photography. On a beach photoshoot in May it overheated often and we had to shut it down and find some shade before taking more pictures. Surprising that the X-M5 fares better. Love your channel and videos! Thanks for making these!

Quick confirmation that the X-S20 is NOT weather resistant. In the original information about the camera that I received along with the pre-production model, it was mentioned that the body is dust and weather resistant so I used it in that way. Unfortunately it is not.

Honestly, when I have the XS20 on me, I just assume that I'm going to be in work mode all day, to be honest. The camera is heavy. It's quite it's it's smaller than other mirrorless cameras in many respects, but it's still chunky and it's still quite a weighted camera.

I wouldn't recommend the xs-10/20 to someone new to fuji. As great as they are, the depth of the UI to navigate vs something like the xt30 or x100 for a beginner is night and day. As great a camera as these are I think its not all that beginner friendly to use.

I have the X-S20 and I couldn't be happier with it. My only complaint is that if you're not careful, it's easy to blow the highlights (as you prove in the DR test too). But I always set it with -1 in exp compensation and problem solved.

I bought and compared both cameras myself, ended up keeping the X-S20. I came to the same conclusion though, for most photographers/videographers the A6700 is better overall, two big reasons would be autofocus and weather sealing.

Sadly the only thing thats holding me back from this camera and selling my XS10 for it is the still limited record time limits. Start and stopping is a bit annoying esp when you want to create many videos going forward.

The X-S20 doesn’t have bad autofocus, the kit lens does. I'd recommend getting the Fujinon XC 35mm F2. Its cheap, has better Autofocus, delivers sharper image quality and works better in Low-Light/Indoors.
