I sold mine a few months ago because of the rolling shutter and the (to my pixelpeeping eyes) poor APS-C crop. The noise in those cropped shadows look very blocky and patternesque and to me it's worse than the actual noise Sony is removing before we get to see it. And if you like me want an APS-C camera and don't care about the photo side, there are cheaper alternatives with more features. But I gWatch T
The Sony A7 V (A75) is here, and it addresses the major issues that made the A7 IV so disappointing for video shooters. In this hands-on review, I test the new partially stacked sensor, the "fix" for the 4K 60 crop, and the improved dynamic range in the streets of NYC.Watch D
A7IV is awesome..sure the A7V will be as well with updated performance AF, AI dedicated AF etc...they better put the Tilt/Flip screen from the A7R/A93 and maybe the body design of the A93 going forward that should be the standard now..the A93 body has slight curves, better grip, better "shutter button" layout..all around better ergonomics and much needed update that Sony Finally!!..made..haha surWatch E
Sony’s 33-megapixel A7 IV has reclaimed its title as the best mainstream mirrorless hybrid camera. It offers a big step up in resolution with no downgrade in noise or light sensitivity, while delivering the best autofocus in its price range. Video is also much improved with 4K now up to 60 fps (albeit cropped) and with 10-bits of color depth.Watch E
I bought the A7IV last month and have really enjoyed it thus far. I'm using it with a Sigma 24-70 Art lens. Switching from Nikon has a little bit of a learning curve but this camera is just so feature rich and has magnificent image quality. That AutoFocus is fantastic as well. I've also been extremely happy with the Sigma lens. So much so that I bought the 150-600 sport telephoto just last week.Watch T
My Favourite Thing About the Sony A7IVWatch T
I’d personally pass on the a7IV, if you have the budget for a7V that would be the better option for most people (or a7RV, or one of the other higher end Sony cameras). If someone is on a budget and needing something cheaper, I’d guess something like the Nikon Z5II might be a better option for many. Depending on prices etc, and how comfortable they are with playing the shutter lottery.Watch J
Unboxing my A7IV because I did end up upgrading: https://www.youtube.com/watch?Watch G
I think the A7Siii's relatively weak noise performance between the commonly used 3200 and 6400 ISO range is what might sell a few of these A7IV's. Although it has its own weaknesses (overheating obviously one of them), the Canon R6 might arguably be a better option for short clips of full frame 4K60 in moderately low light. You've gotta appreciate what Sony is doing overall though.Watch G
Sony a7 IV Review: The Best Hybrid Camera for the Money!Watch J
The Sony A7iv is a dream to me. It has all the stuff I am looking for - 10fps is more than enough for my style of taking photos (and to be honest I dont see any real diff between compressed and uncompressed raw) and 4k30 or 4k60 croped with a decent lens like the 16-35 or 14-24 f2.8 fits my needs just perfect too. Screen looks fine too because it is brighter than the one on the R6.Watch T
The perfect hybrid camera.Watch W
What I dont like about the A74 is the shutter acutation is really loud and I realized the silent mode and electronic first curtain are unusable just like the A73. I Also have the A75 now and I couldn't be more happy with all the features like precapture and you can actually use the silent shutter and the electronic first curtain for a quieter single shutter actuation.Watch O
Sony claims a reduced battery-life of 15% in stills-mode. And I confirm that's the case - Since it's the same NP-FZ100 batteries but updated features (such as the processor etc) and higher megapixels. For the shooting I did with some 4K 10bit clips, and some photography. I needed to bring an extra battery for a day out.Watch F
Dope A7iv footage. I have preordered the A7iv, so I am quite excited and looking forward to shooting with it. I like that you have the same attitude towards working with your camera as I do. You work with its features, not with what you think it should do. Simple, yea? The one thing a lot of complainers forget about the A7iv is that it shoots in 10-bit 4K 4.2.2.Watch 3
One thing is certain, the Sony a74 is the best Sony camera I've ever tested.Watch N
The sony a7iv gives creators professional stills, serious video capabilities, strong autofocus, reliable workflow tools, and access to an outstanding lens ecosystem. Whether shooting weddings, portraits, commercial campaigns, YouTube content, travel stories, or product work, the Sony Alpha A7 IV continues to prove why it remains such a dependable hybrid camera.Read T
To jump straight to the conclusion the a7IV is Sony's most accessible hybrid camera, and it is a super solid choice. You'll really like it if you want a full frame camera that can deliver great video and take incredible photos, especially if you want incredible low-light performance and pretty much the best autofocus that you can get right now.Watch D
THe A74 is amazing! Great video! My only two issues is that 1. it has just one CF express type A card slot. Not the biggest deal, but just something to note. The second issue that was pretty major for me, is one of the updates resetting my camera shooting settings. I'm not sure what happened, but one of the prior updates had my photos being taken in SLOG3.Watch J
Short answer is yes but long answer is that it has some cons to turn professionals away from this camera and using it for client work.Watch M
I’ve been having this internal monologue since changing to Sony for the A7iv; what I keep coming back to is the A7iv is just soooo good. I cannot believe the look of the files when converted from log. I think if/when i add another camera I’d leapfrog to the cinema line. I’m so happy with this system can’t wait to start delivering the films to clients soon.Watch J
The Sony A7IV is HERE and it's a beast. It could be the best mirrorless camera 2022.Watch P
I did it I bought it as my first big girl camera. When I started my photography program 2.5 yrs ago, I bought a used Sony A6500, which I outgrew. It was time to upgrade so I chose this A7 IV. It's still a bit of a learning curved but so far so good. This semester I had to take a video class for my degree. I'm so happy this camera will serve my needs.Watch R
It's not really a master of either so it does feel like a sort of jack-of-all-trades master of none type of camera but because of that this is a very versatile camera. If you shoot stills, if you shoot weddings, portraiture, wildlife, landscapes or you just want to take like really high quality snaps of your vacation this is going to get the job done.Watch J
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the Sony A7iv. The continuous autofocus was super fast and accurate. It felt like the best autofocus I’ve ever used, even compared to the Canon R8 and R5, which have impressive autofocus. Also, having 33 megapixels was great and allowed for cropping more than would be possible with a camera with 24 megapixels.Read S
The Sony A7IV is an excellent camera for portrait photography. let me explain!Watch T
The Sony A7 IV is more than just a camera. It is Sony’s courageous assertion of what a full-frame mirrorless body can do at a “prosumer” price point. A 33MP sensor, a 4K 60fps film , and real-time tracking autofocus are magic, which fills in the blanks that cameras priced at twice as much just a couple of years ago hadn’t quite managed to reach.Read C
Even in 2026, the Sony A7 IV remains a highly relevant choice for photographers and videographers, with many asking if the Sony A7 IV in 2026 is still worth buying and whether the Sony A7 IV 2026 lineup holds up against newer models.Watch L
i went to a testing event from calument and yes for filming and normal photography this camera is very good, the only problme which i have with this camera is the readoutspeed of 17ms, for sport or Wildlife it is way to slow and the buffer fills up a bit to fast when shooting raw (about 100MB pre Shoot) if you shoot CRAW it was kind a ok.Watch A
A one year update on using the Sony A7IV and it has been a great experience. Coming from lumix cameras the transition has been great and it has genuinely made me a better videographer. I have also made no mention of ergonomics because I can honestly use the camera just as well as my old Lumix S5. I also think this is the cheapest camera that can produce the best video in todays market!Watch A
I think still think the A7IV is a cool camera, I just wish they updated all the major issues to make it a better jack of all trades cameras. I use my A7III for a lot of different things so was hoping the A7IV would the one camera that could do it all. But it’s still amazing for landscape and studio work and the AF is pretty awesome now.Read K
This camera, of course, is the lovely Sony a7 IV, and I've owned it ever since it came out.Watch T TikTok Article
Not only is it great for cameras that don’t support slow motion, but it’s even useful for cameras that do but maybe you forgot to switch over. Sure, it’s not exactly true slow motion, but it’s damn close most of the time, and indistinguishable from real slow mo in some cases. For the best results, set you shutter speed appropriately.Read M
And it's been a really great camera, and I've really been enjoying using it. Each time a new camera has come out, I've actually considered upgrading my Sony a7 IV.Watch A
“I on the other hand like that it's small and compact simply because it takes up less space when I'm out in the wild so do you value small and compact over big and bulky also the a6700 is newer and it is equipped with some cool new features for both photography and the iography some of them like…” — That Icelandic GuyRead T
Overall, it's an awesome camera, especially when you compare it where I started in photography with the Canon 5D Mark II. The A7 IV has incredible image quality. They are crisp, the colors are great, it's compact, it's lightweight, and it has a solid all-around feature set.Watch T
The Sony A7 IV is among the most talked-about mirrorless cameras in recent years. With a strong combination of professional features on one hand, while maintaining quality images on the other, and also ensuring enhanced video capabilities, the A7 IV somehow stands between being a photographer's and a videographer's tool .Read K
Two years later, the Sony a7 IV still stands out as the ultimate hybrid camera. See why it remains a favorite for creators who value both photo and video performance.Watch S
my a73 gave out in the middle oh a shoot so I bought the a74 and 2 months later in a middle of a shoot it gave out or didn't work basically and then it then the next day it worked again, 3 months later the camera gave out forcing me to buy another Sony camera a7s3 got a video camera for my real estate video stuff.Watch A
Am I obsolete now? Am I behind the times? Am I going to get laughed at by all the other people out there with cameras, Sony cameras, like, ah, you've still only got that thing, or is this Sony A74 still a capable camera? I don't think anything has changed since I purchased the camera other than that there's a new camera out, but uh just the same.Watch D
Great video guys thanks, my biggest disappointment about this camera (given the sizable price increase) was that Sony didn't manage to squeeze in a stacked sensor to once again cement them as the mirrorless leaders, offering cutting edge features at a great price like so many A series models have done before it.Watch T
With advanced autofocus and low-light capabilities, this compact camera captures every detail of the big day, from the ceremony to the reception. Whether you're a pro or just starting out, the Sony A7 IV is a must-have tool for capturing the magic of every wedding.Watch J
So I am now viewing the A7IV vids and likely will be purchasing that model. Be interesting to see which lenses you recommended going forward. I will not be doing web presentations but like the option to use the camera to video. Especially now that I have several young G-Kids that need to be recorded. Thanks.Watch J
And I think this could possibly be one of the best value cameras that you could buy right now. Now, just quickly, some of the features. 33 megapixel, which is going to give you heaps of room to crop in on photos. Also, you're getting 4K up to 60 frames a second. Then, you're getting slow-mo up to 120 frames a second in HD. Now, this has dual SD card slots, which is nice.Watch M
I Currently own both and can attest to these results. However, not requiring a ton of video capabilities, I will be returning the A7IV. I shoot a lot of wildlife (mostly birds) and you cannot beat the amount of crop you receive with the RIV. Buffer speed hasn't affected me as much as I thought it would.Watch L
But in 2026, the Sony A7IV is still one of the most balanced hybrid cameras you can buy.Watch T
A7 IV had nicer detail/ colour range and blur in almost all photos, gave a nicer balanced image. Clear winner for me there! A6700 is good if you like taking videos, but for photos A7 IV is still a winner, is the subtle difference worth the huge price of the lenses though? Probably not for most people.Watch T
Overall, this is a capable hybrid camera for anyone who wants high-resolution photography and advanced video features in one system.Watch M
I’m in the middle. If you already have the a7iv is not really urgent for you to upgrade but if you can then I strongly advise that you do so. There’s so many small quality of life changes that end up stacking and you feel the difference. Specially if you’re a hybrid shooter you will notice it.Watch C
Sony A7IV is almost perfect. For me the Grip is not that ergonomic as Canon. But all the technical specs are great. 4k60 crop is a bit lame but if you need a wide angle you can also use the aps-c lenses 😉 And I love the E-Mount with alle the great Tamron, Sigma and other third party lenses.Watch M
Matti you hit it on the head. the Sony a7IV is going to underwhelm some and be just right for some, but no one will be completely blown away. Although, unless I missed somethig else. the 33-megapixel a7IV low light performed close to on par with the 12-megapixel a7sIII. That was a surprise.Watch T Tiktok Article
🎥 Sony recently released version 6.0.0 for the A7IV - and I’m honestly shocked (in the best possible way)! Watch the vid for some of the highlight features and check out Sony’s update page for a full list of all of the new changes (there are even more than what I go over here).Read J
I shot my documentary with the Sony A7 IV in The Philippines. Never overheated and my documentary is on Netflix. It's not about the camera. It's about the person using it. Also the FX2 is the same as the A7 IV, they have the same sensor. It's an A7 IV in an FX body.Watch R r/Cameras u/evie-03 · owner
It's a stunning hybrid machine for photo and video and a great price point especially seemingly with its comparability with 3rd party lenses, but when there’s absolutely the budget for gear, is that really the best choice to make for somebody working professionally?Read J
I owned the a7iv and swapped to the a7cii, LOVE it. I do sports/wildlife. The autofocus is noticeably superior in the a7cii over the a7iv. plus, the .5 lb difference helps me a good bit since I have a spinal fracture. I use it all the time and i love the a7cii!Watch O
It’s really a lovely camera, I’m bought one coming from Nikon dslr, started doing more video and I needed a better camera than the D500. I just customised the control layout to be the same as the Nikon and it’s really made it super easy for me to transition.Watch T Tiktok Article
It’s now been out for a few months, so I’d say it’s a pretty safe time to finally update your Sony A7IV! Version 6 brings a ton of new UI improvement to the A7IV - many of which are found on newer cameras like the latest ZV models and even the new Sony A7V.Read A
Decent camera if the shutter doesn't crash early. I use mine mostly in electronic shutter mode (whenever I can anyway). Both a7III and a7IV (they use the same shutter) are somewhat prone to early shutter failure (some last decent others don't).Watch A
Prior to the release of the S5ii there were very few used A74’s up for sale. Now there are loads. I expect the L-mount lens depreciation will change soon as LUMIX grows its market share as a result of them no longer being crippled with CDAF.Watch U
It remains one of the most balanced hybrid cameras available, offering strong image quality, dependable autofocus, impressive video features, and a deep lens ecosystem without pushing into the price tier of Sony’s more specialized bodies.Read M
The A7iv is an amazing camera. In my opinion, only the A1 is the best all-round camera over the a7iv. Btw, why do you prefer the GMii over the Sigma 24-70 V2? I think going all in with Sigma makes all your photos have the same look.Watch M
a7IV still a workhorse in 2026. only reason why you would consider upgrading is if you've reached 300,000/ 400,000 shutter count on your camera then that's when your cameras starts to become unreliable even without noticeable signs.Watch P
Incredibly versatile camera and my B Cam to my FX3a. I recently used it to get fan and athlete reactions indoors artistic swimming with my Sigma 28-70 and was SO happy to still have this camera. Never gonna sell it!Watch T
One has to be crazy to get the a7iv to use it mostly for video. Get the FX30 is you plan to use the camera for video. If you are a still photographer using the camera just occasionally for video, then get the a7IV.Watch T
Considering the features of the A7iv, such as the 7K down sampled to 4K for video, the lens compensation, and the touch screen menus, etc,, make it an excellent camera overall. Thanks for your thorough review.Watch V
If you do little video work and shoot primarily static or slow-moving subjects, upgrading isn't necessary. In that case it is better to spend the difference in price (about 1,000 US dollars) on a great lens.Watch T
Sony A7IV is a great camera! I use it at work and also love it, but I bought a Canon R6II as my personal camera because I didn’t like the 60fps crop on the A7IV! But other than that I like a lot the camera.Watch F Facebook Tori Lorenz · owner
Has anyone had mega issues with the Sony a7 iv with not connecting to the lens? 24-70GM F2.8… iv had the worst luck ever… also, delay on/off function I would turn it off and it woudl stay on or vice versa.Read R
I think the a7iv is great but if you're completely new I'd take a look at all the new canon mirrorless bodies tbh. Better spec and better value but a7iv is great if you already have lots of sony lenses.Watch T
I loved the A7IV, I went back to the riii for its resolution but really miss the low-light performance and that ultra-reliable autofocus. The A7IV just coped so well with challenging light conditions.Watch T
S5ii imho has the smoothest highlight rolloff at the smallest file size, but the a7iv footage also looks incredible. Deciding between an og lumix s1 or the more expensive a7iv. Thanks for the video.Watch S
I've been a Sony guy for a while now (EX3, FS100, FS7, A7IV, FX6/9) and while the A7IV is just an excellent value, I do feel that Sony is getting surpassed by everybody else at the moment.Watch Z
I'd wait for a7V and hope that Sony finally puts a decent quality mechanical shutter in it. I've seen way too many a7III / a7IV camera shutters fail early (some last decent, some don't).Watch U
Both of these issues have been addressed in the Sony A7iv , which offers a screen that articulates in various directions and allows you to make menu selections using the touchscreen.Read T
But I think the A7IV is still great for stills…. It just falls behind the A7RIV because that’s probably still one of the best dedicated stills cameras available at that price point.Watch I Instagram Article
I’m a big fan of the Sony A7IV and it’s been my primary hybrid workhorse over the years….but the overheating has made it a pretty unreliable camera for long-form video work.Read M

The best settings I found are flexible spot at 6 FPS with about 70 % sharp pictures. As you say, great camera, but not for sports. I'm so glad to hear that !Watch C
I have this camera, but the rolling shutter bothers me. What do you think about Canon R6 II? It has a faster sensor, which should help with this issue.Watch T
Don't get me wrong, the A7 IV is a good deal for what it is, but it's far from a hidden gem. Rather, it's the standard camera for many photographers.Watch J
If price is a concern I will happily buy the Sony a7iv again and pair it with Tamron or sigma f2.8 lenses and I will end up saving a lot of money.Watch T
I rented one recently for a wedding and it was wonderful, I’m glad you mentioned the sunny monitor option! That was one of my only complaints.Watch O
The a7iv was meant for Wildlife 33mp plus crop in 4K 60 paired with the 200-600 G lens with the waterproof Rolan pro sleeve super awesome.Watch M
Not a huge upgrade however, looks like IBIS is finally almost there. Definitely a step up on the A7III. Soon, you will look even better.Watch B
