Sony a7 V
DPReview calls it spectacular, but The Phoblographer says skip it until the autofocus issues are fixed. First-year firmware risk on this lens is disqualifying. Buy the Nikon Z6III or wait.

Think twice if you already own a recent a7 IV — it's still excellent in 2026 and has plenty of life left, though it makes a great backup to a new a7 V. And if you shoot fast, chaotic action at sustained high frame rates, or you need maximum resolution and the cleanest rolling shutter available, step up to the Sony A1 II instead. Deep in a long burst the a7 V can show a little frame skip, and its rolling shutter, while good, isn't flagship-level. Those gaps are situational — for almost everyone else buying in the standard A7 range, the a7 V is the camera I recommend.Read P

In my opinion, the Sony a7 V is now the ideal wedding camera (and really for anything outside of crazy fast action and higher-resolution needs). It is essentially a higher-resolution Sony a9 or Sony a9 II with a higher frame rate, better autofocus, better video, and a better body design, all for a lower price.Read J Jason Morris Jason Morris · 147K subscribers · May 2026
But, if you want something that's going to be great for all round and obviously a cheaper price, the A7 V is absolutely no slouch. And in my opinion, it's one of the best Sony cameras out there in terms of value. It's giving you really good stills and really good video for the price in the Sony range.Watch D
The a7 V is a spectacular all-rounder, with advanced autofocus, excellent dynamic range or fast shooting and impressive 4K video. Its interface and ergonomics count against it and some video specialists might find its feature set a little shallow. For most people it'll be more camera than they'll ever need.Read S Subhamclick Subhamclick · 6.1K subscribers · Apr 2026

All that to give some context to this statement: The new A7V is the best all-around camera Sony has ever made. It has 95 percent of what the top-of-the-line A1II offers, for half the price.Read H Hawk In The Lens Hawk In The Lens · 3.2K subscribers · Mar 2026

Choose the Sony A7V if you want the latest Sony tech. Better 4K slow motion, zero crop 4K 60p, best inclass autofocus, stronger stabilization, professionalgrade futurep proofing. In simple words, the Sony A7V is a true hybrid monster and a major upgrade over the A74. If you're thinking of buying a new camera in 2025, the A7V is absolutely worth considering.Watch A Addrian, The Creator Addrian, The Creator · 2K subscribers · Mar 2026
Then I upgraded to the FX3, moved to the A7 IV, and then the A7C II, and then the A9 III, and then eventually coming to the A7 V, which honestly now, out of all the cameras I've owned, this has to be by far my favorite camera.Watch
