For me, the base 16 Aurora checks the boxes of decent performance, not super loud, reasonably cool, and I can use it on my lap without completely blocking the air flow to the fans. That last one is pretty important. Almost every other laptop doesn't really work well on your lap because you end up blocking the air intake on the bottom of them.Watch S
Not specifically for gaming, but content creation because the display on this thing fantastic. And I cannot wait to open it up and see it for myself. But we got to talk about what's in the box. >> What's in the box? >> Specifically, be more alien. I cringe every time I read some cringe marketing like that. Holy cow, you're going to kill a man with this thing. 280 watts.Watch E
Of course, Nvidia’s latest frame booster tech makes those raw figures borderline-meaningless: The 16X Aurora was able to run Cyberpunk 2077 at 2.5K on the Ray Tracing Ultra setting with DLSS set to Auto and Multi Frame Generation set to x4 at 129fps. Drop the resolution to 1,920 x 1,200 and the frame rate jumps to 174fps.Read M
I'm liking that color. So, this is like a really dark blue, metallic blue. So, definitely a lot darker than the liquid teal. Hopefully the cameras can see that coloring. Uh, a lot darker than the liquid teal on the Area 51, but I think that looks fantastic. Now, the 16X is a metal chassis. If you buy the basic 16, you get a plastic chassis.Watch M
I absolutely love this Alienware laptop. My best friend has had it for three months now, and it’s been running perfectly. I’m a big fan of its elegant, understated design that doesn’t scream “gamer” — I can take it to the office for rendering tasks without looking like a 13-year-old kid.Watch M
So, that's actually not too crazy for an Ali anywhere laptop on launch. But, as always, I'm sure there's going to be discount vouchers and uh sales down the line to get an even better price. Now, before we look around this laptop, just want to quickly talk about today's sponsor, Flexispot.Watch W
The base 16 Aurora's 720p front-facing camera gets upgraded to 1080p with the 16X Aurora, but both are just fine for video conferencing. The more expensive sibling does also get Windows Hello facial recognition, though, which the entry-level 16 Aurora lacks.Read H

I did notice that the surface temperatures on the Alienware 16X Aurora got quite warm. I understand that some uncomfortable warmth is inevitable at a certain point, especially during long gaming sessions, but the 16X Aurora stayed warm for longer than I wished it did. It never got so hot that it was unbearable, but the warmth tends to linger long after the game was closed and the fans stopped.Read J
Build quality feels great overall. The keyboard hardly flexes under pressure, but the lid bends a bit more than I’d like under force, but it feels fine during normal use and doesn’t flop around while typing.Watch G
Keyboard feedback remains one of Aurora’s weakest areas. Key travel is shallow, and the actuation point feels vague — serviceable, but audiophiles and fast typists will notice. The per-key RGB is smooth and AlienFX-integrated; the large, well-centered touchpad also tracks cleanly.Read J
The 16X feels more modern and competitive with other laptops around this price point. It has a current gen CPU, a decent screen, and modern bells and whistles like facial recognition. I've been using it for about a week now, and it's okay. I can see people who like the Alienware brand being drawn to it. The 16, on the other hand, has a CPU that's based on tech from 2 years ago and a bad screen.Watch T
The 16X Aurora is not a high-tier laptop designed to give you the best graphics experience possible. That said, its IPS display with 240Hz refresh rate provides a beautiful visual experience that more than compensates for almost everything else.Read S
And while the pricing, in my honest opinion, is pretty reasonable, all things considered, it does have a lot to prove for itself. The 16X Aurora looks the part and has a gamer-grade display, but while it’s a more attainable take on the usual Alienware formula, it still carries a hefty premium compared to other RTX 5060 laptops.Read C
This laptop is actually very stealthy for an Alienware device. It has basically no RGB on the outside and just this small Alienware logo in the middle of this very pretty navy blue color. And from the outside, this feels like one of the best-built laptops I have ever felt. It has a fully metal body on the top and bottom, and these are thick layers of metal.Watch I
Before I got to the crunchy numbers, the Alienware 16X Aurora suffered from some serious stuttering while gaming. I updated my graphics drivers and Windows 11, and yes, turned it off and on again.Read C
For some baffling reason, Alienware limited the Aurora 16X to an RTX 5070. Maybe its cooling system just couldn't handle anymore. And when we look at those GPU wattage limits, that's almost certainly the case because the Strix gives that 5070 TI access to a lot more power.Watch C

We have four USB ports, which is fine, but they're not all created equal. We got two highspeed Type-C ports, one of which thankfully has full Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, but the other two USB type A ports are a bit disappointing at 5 GBs per second. But then, you remember this thing has an RTX 570 with just 8 GB of VRAM. For some god awful reason, >> Money. >> it only has 8 GB of VRAM. I mean, it's still strong GPU really. However, according to reports and reviews I looked through, realworld battery life is still limited, often around 4 hours for light tasks, which is typical for high performance gaming machines. That said, the laptop isn't perfect.Watch G

The panel's brightness caps at about 320 nits, which is decent indoor, but struggles a bit in bright rooms or if you're trying to game near a window. Many budget gaming laptops still feature grainy, poorly balanced 720p webcam, and the 16 Aurora sadly falls into this category while its 16X Aurora sibling comes equipped with a 1080p cam that not only produces a much cleaner image, but also includes an IR sensor for Windows Hello facial recognition logins. And with no fingerprint reader, the 16 Aurora offers no biometrics.Read D
During light workloads (browsing, YouTube, MS Word) in Balanced mode, the CPU temperature frequently spikes into the 90–95 °C range, sometimes touching higher values.
