A laptop that doesn't look like a gaming laptop but provides good enough performance to run every AAA title is something I've been looking for a while. The ASUS TUF A14 Refresh is probably part of that exact segment I couldn't find before, at least in this price range. I've always been a fan of the TUF series as it doesn't force your wallet wide open when you want to play games.

The Ryzen AI Max+ 392 is easily one of the most interesting laptop chips we’ve seen in a while. On the CPU side, this 12-core, 24-thread Zen 5 processor is a proper powerhouse. In Cinebench R24, the laptop scored around 1407 in multi-core and 112 in single-core, putting it right alongside Intel’s high-end HX-series chips. What stands out even more is the consistency.

I've been up and running with the system for a couple days now, and it seems that everything is working except for one thing, and that's HDMI out. What I have to do to connect to my game capture or, you know, add a larger display to this is use a USB Type-C adapter. We've got two USB Type-C or USB 4 ports on this unit, so we could add dual monitors, and that's top mode if we want to.

The Asus TUF Gaming A14 has been one of the best budget gaming laptops of the last few years. This year, Asus decided to switch up the A14 formula a bit. Rather than pairing an Nvidia discrete graphics card with an AMD APU, Asus decided to go all-in on AMD’s powerful Ryzen AI Max+ chipset with its powerful Radeon 8060S integrated graphics.

I'd say go get that laptop. Oh and btw, the ram is soldered, you won't be able to upgrade it later, so choose wisely between the 16 and 32gb ram version. I can't really recommend you which one to choose. You know what program YOU are gonna use, check their minimum and recommended requirements and choose ram size according to that.

Easily one of my favorite gaming laptops that Asus has ever launched. Why is it one of my favorites? Well, it packs all of that 14-in goodness that you get from the Zephris G14. strips out some of the unnecessary stuff that you may not need, such as the OLED display. That aluminum shell gives you a nice plastic build, but it still feels pretty premium in the hand.

I really wanted to like the 2026 Asus TUF Gaming A14, and in some ways it is a good system. The Strix Halo transition has worked wonders for its creator credentials and productivity potential. But as the mid-range gaming marvel I remember it to be, the A14 has lost the plot with a massive price bump, worse thermal and power efficiency than its older sibling packed with a dedicated GPU.

But, guys, like I don't know why this price tag is really bothering me right now. I I mean, ASUS should have at least put a better chip for it and also give us at least better hardware improvements, like an OLED display, because this thing still comes with the same 165 Hz IPS display that covers 77% DCI-P3, has a peak SDR brightness output of 443 nits. It's not terrible.

On the other hand, the Asus TUF Gaming A14 benefits from an extremely capable APU that includes 12 fast processor cores. That, alongside 32GB of RAM and reasonably quick yet efficient AMD Radeon 8060S graphics, makes for a laptop that could work well as a portable workstation for 3D rendering, video editing, and similar tasks.

But there’s a problem. The TUF A14 isn’t actually that much cheaper compared to ASUS's more premium Zephyrus G14. So I’ve compared them in this review. The A14 has a grey metal aluminum lid and a black plastic interior. The lid only has subtle TUF branding, it’s got a clean looking design.

Best performance to price ratio with grew build and battery life . It is aimed at portability with gaming so probably has performance equivalent to 4060/70 with better power efficiency. Also 8gb vram is going to prove inadequate in next couple of years max looking at all the game dev is in progress.

I wish there was an option to get a 3K touchscreen on the A14. FHD+ is quite a downgrade. It is highly noticeable to switch between 3k and 2k. Maybe the next version of the S14 will be even lighter. It is really nice to see this kind of innovation. I try to travel under 7kg so I like it.

It does have the specs of a gaming laptop, though. It's not topofthe- line, but trust me, this thing can game. With a TGP of 115 watts for its RTX 5000 GPUs, this has more power than some laptops double its price. But for some odd reason, it can only be speced with the slower Ryzen chips of this year.
