These are great speakers. Just bought a pair to go with my Marantz 6007 cd and 6007 amp. Sounds great when I put on Pink Floyd wish you were here and also AC/DC Powerage.

1i stand mount speakers. Let me give you a few final thoughts, have some of those to share, and I've got some pros and cons and a rating. To my mind, the Wharfedale Diamonds provide a superb sound and a classic design presentation that offers a great blend of modernity and nostalgic elements in both visual and sound terms. Offering brilliant value for money, the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1i speakers are little treasures, and above all, show once again the amazing sound quality you can access from today's budget speakers for not much money at all.

1i are not your only choice when it comes to great sounding, good-looking, modestly priced stand man loudspeakers. But they're as good as anything this sort of money can currently buy you. I'm quite sure of that.

Once powered up, the Diamond 121 immediately stands out for its clear, balanced sound signature. Vocals are natural and well- definfined, sitting comfortably in the mix without sounding forward or recessed, which makes these speakers excellent for dialogueheavy content like podcasts, acoustic tracks, and movies. The mid-range is where the 12.1 really shines, offering warmth and detail that works well across genres from pop and rock to jazz and singer songwriter recordings. High frequencies are smooth and controlled, avoiding sharpness or listening fatigue even at higher volumes, which many listeners find ideal for longer sessions

Earlier on this week I watched a video where the diamond series of 12.0 12.1 12.2 and 12.3 were put up against each other, the 12.3s came out on top, not surpisring as it had bigger bass drivers than all the others and its size was boardering on being floor standers as opposed to bookshelf, but also as expected quite a bit more expensive, what was surprissing was the 12.1 ones did not get a very good review by any of the reviwer's, normally the .1, versons of the diamond series i.e. 9.1 10.1 11.1 get very good reviews, and good value for money, what did come out of this review was the 12.0 came out above the 12.1 in their opinion, and nearley on par with the 12.2, making it punching well above its price tag, and I have to admit it certainly did sound very good indeed.

The Diamond 12'1's de-accentuate mids and boost treble and bass a bit. Both are fairly clean, but the KEF's are cleaner, have more presence and detail, and are closer to honest.but lack a natural amount of life-like flesh to their sound. Other speakers that cost less and more beat them in that way.

I tried the 12.1s, and they sounded beautiful. But eventually, I felt they were slightly too laid back for me and sold them.

It ranks #5 of 31 on our bookshelf speakers tier list, in A tier. That placement draws on 18 cited sources across 15 outlets.

On our bookshelf speakers board, Dali Kupid ranks #4 (A tier) ahead of Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 at #5 (A tier). Dali Kupid: Award-winning, conventional, low-tech passive design that should run for decades without intervention.

On our bookshelf speakers board, Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 ranks #5 (A tier) ahead of Q Acoustics 3020i at #15 (C tier). Q Acoustics 3020i: Clear, detailed sound with a robust enclosure that resists aging.

Anyone who wants the best value passive bookshelf speaker on our board. It ranks fifth in A tier on robust construction, excellent bass response, natural tone and a sound that stays stable for years. It is the speaker our research names as the wiser buy over both the Sony SS-CS5 and the Klipsch RP-600M II. If you want the last word in imaging and clarity and can pay for it, the KEF LS50 Meta is the step up.

Years, with no change in sound. Our research records robust construction, a durable design and a stable sound signature over time, and the verdict is that it keeps its sound stable for years. As a passive design it has no electronics to fail. That durability is what separates it from the Wharfedale Super Denton, whose enclosure warps over time.

Yes, bass is its strength. Our research lists excellent bass response and strong bass as the first things reviewers notice, with a natural tone above it. It gives a fuller low end than most speakers of its size and cost. For the deepest bass in a room you would still add a subwoofer, but the Diamond 12.1 does not need one for everyday listening.

Yes. The Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 is a passive speaker and needs a stereo or integrated amplifier with speaker outputs. It has no built-in amplification, Bluetooth or streaming. Its easy-going character means it does not need an expensive amplifier to sound good.

Our board treats the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1i as the same product as the Wharfedale Diamond 12.1, and the research findings on build, bass and stable sound apply to both. The 12.1i is the later revision of the 12.1 in Wharfedale's Diamond 12 range. If a shop lists either name, you are looking at the speaker our board ranks fifth.
