This Intuos Pro is currently my daily driver and is a great drawing tablet for professional artists, illustrators, and graphic designers. Serious beginners may want to keep an eye on the secondhand market for one of these as well as it gives plenty of room to grow into.

The Wacom Intuos Pro Medium is for people who want a screenless graphics tablet with excellent driver support and a sturdy build. It sits in B tier on our board, recommended by Brad Colbow as an entry-level option, with 8192 pressure levels, customisable ExpressKeys and an aluminium chassis. The cons are that it lacks advanced features and costs more than some competitors. If you would rather draw on a screen, the XP-Pen Artist 12 3rd in A tier is the budget pen display on our board.

No. It is a screenless graphics tablet: you draw on the pad while watching your monitor. That takes practice for the first few days, but it keeps the tablet thin and light and leaves your monitor as the only display to calibrate. If you want to draw where you look, choose a pen display instead.

A long time. The sturdy aluminium chassis and excellent driver support are both listed strengths, and a screenless tablet has no panel to age. Pen nibs wear and are replaceable, and the drawing surface can be swapped if it becomes scratched.

The Wacom Intuos Pro Medium. It is in B tier on our board while the Wacom Intuos Pro Small is in F tier, marked down for a small working area and limited size that leave it behind the alternatives. The medium working area maps to a monitor with far less cramping of your strokes.

ExpressKeys are the customisable physical buttons along the edge of the tablet. You assign each one in the Wacom driver to a shortcut such as undo, brush size or zoom, so your off hand stays on the tablet instead of the keyboard. They are listed as one of its strengths.
