This new drive hardware is mated to a turntable that keeps the same recipe as the original SL-1500C - because there was absolutely nothing wrong with those ingredients. The CS has an internal moving magnet phono stage, allowing it to be connected to a line level input. Like the original, this is a well-implemented example of an internal phono stage because you can completely bypass it and use a set of terminals that provide a standard output for a phono stage, rather than powering the phono stage off and routing the signal through it (which is an approach a few rivals take).Read C
It is an audiophile-quality, semi-automatic direct drive turntable with a built-in defeatable phono preamp. Let's start with the cartridge. It features an Ortofon 2M Red moving magnet cartridge mounted to a removable headshell, so it is easily upgradable, but you shouldn't need to, it is a well-reviewed, high-performing needle. That Ortofon 2M Red is mounted to a lightweight static balanced s-shaped tone arm for excellent and accurate tracking in the groove. The platter on the SL-1500C is a die-cast aluminum platter with an anti-resonance rubber backing to reduce any kind of resonant frequencies in your music.Watch T
The Technics SL-1500C has a lot to offer the budding record collector. Budget-conscious shoppers can get started using its internal phono stage so we are talking about a complete plug and play solution that sounds nicely balanced and incisive, capable of communicating the essence and importance of listening to records. Careful, one may just change your life. If the feeling ever arises, adding an outboard phono stage can improve the SL-1500C’s performance, but I’d recommend only doing so when you’re running out of room for your record collection.Read E
The Technics SL 1500C isn't trying to be flashy. It's refined. It's serious. But it also says, "Hey, come enjoy music again." It's beginner friendly with that built-in preamp, but still audio file capable if you upgrade the chain. Technics SL 1500C pros and cons. Pros: Plug-and-play simplicity.Watch P
It retains a genuinely high standard of construction, with a substantial chassis and a refined coreless direct-drive motor that delivers excellent speed stability and low noise. At the same time, Technics has made sure it remains approachable, with a built-in phono stage, automatic tonearm lifter and pre-installed cartridge allowing for a straightforward setup straight out of the box.Read P

The original SL-1500C hit the market in 2019 and delivered a huge slice of fundamental rightness at its £900 asking price. For people whose relationship with their hardware isn’t a tragic, all consuming upward death spiral of ever increasing cost and complexity, it is possible to make the argument that the SL-1500C was all the turntable that anyone ever needed.Read D
But SL 1500 is just a really nice turntable overall. Nice manual direct drive.Watch W
Elsewhere, the robust structure of the five-star SL-1500 is carried through in the new model. The aluminium die-cast chassis is combined with ABS and glass fibre for rigidity and vibration control. The S-shaped aluminium tonearm returns, as does the automatic arm lift function, and the deck comes fitted with the Ortofon 2M Red moving magnet cartridge.Read A

I think it’s also worth a mention that with inflation taken into account, the CS actually costs a little less than the original SL-1500 did in 1976, which is pretty amazing when you think about how much more advanced the new model is and the additional features it has.Read H
The heavily damped chassis makes this deck especially appealing for apartment dwellers or anyone with springy floors. Footsteps, nearby speakers, and environmental vibrations are effectively blocked before they reach the stylus.Read A
