Pimax Dream Air
Pimax's ultra-light 4K micro-OLED halo headset for PC VR. Spectacular on paper and genuinely unique, but it is a maximum-spec enthusiast product with a rocky launch history, so it takes the last pick slot rather than a higher one.

Buyers are publicly abandoning the waitlist before even receiving hardware, and Pimax's historically shaky QC and support mean a headset you may wait months for and then troubleshoot yourself.

Pimax’s Dream Air is genuinely about as good as it gets in the PC VR world. In a demo, I strapped the headset onto my face and started piloting a Blade Runner -esque ship in Low-Fi , a cyberpunk RPG made for VR. Did I immediately get nauseous? Yes, I sure did. Did I want to keep playing anyway? Also, yes. I’m not kidding when I say that the clarity and smoothness of this headset’s display were arguably the most impressive I’ve seen in VR to date.Read A
This is so small and so light. I cannot believe that I'm holding a VR headset in my hands. Amazing. Pure craft- craftsmanship here, guys. We have also the cable, which is pretty long. You have enough length. In terms of controllers, >> I choose the Pimax Sword. This is the Pimax Sword, guys, which by the way looks incredible. Look at this, guys. Check this out. If you're after the best overall VR headset image quality, the Pimax Dream Air delivers. Its twin 3,840 x 3,552 OLED panels are incredibly sharp and deliver all the contrast, deep blacks, and vividness you'd expect from OLED. The view through its optics is very finely dependent on the fit of the face foam, though, so there's a chance you might not get on with this headset, which is a shame considering its very high price.Read M

And then the Dream Air, especially the the the slam version for an easy setup, is the best dedicated PCVR headset on the market right now in my opinion. That's it. If Automobilista is your main sim, this headset is genuinely a match made in heaven. Getting uncompressed edge-to-edge clarity out of those 4K per eye Sony micro OLED panels in a headset that weighs under 170 g completely changes the immersion factor. The Pimax Dream Air has the best visuals I've ever seen in a VR headset - but let's be honest, the stock facial interface was never comfortable for me. So I picked up the Studioform facial gasket and top strap, and it completely changed the gameWatch M

So, I can run it easily on native resolution. And to answer your question if you can run it with a 5070 Ti or 4080 or 5080, then if you're running simulations or flight sims that are somewhat optimized for VR, then I think the answer is yes. I've had the Pimax Dream Air for roughly 3 months now and I wanted to follow up on my previous review. I've been using this thing pretty much every time I'm in the rig and not recording videos. But other than that, the product I tried isn’t at all close enough to prime time for me. Mainly eye tracking was not implemented, and it was using lighthouse controllers. Also, I noticed judder when you turned your head. I think it was related to the game framerate was not keeping up with the headset’s refresh rate, and that was confirmed by their demo guy.Read M

“I’d love the dream air as it’s perfect spec for what I want. Um and of course, Pimax did send me this headset for review, but as you can see from this channel, it makes no difference to my opinion on the headset. I've mentioned plenty of negatives, but there is a lot of positives as well, it must be said. The Dream Air is really bad with that out of the box. It seems like the head strap and facial interface were made more to be light and not to be comfortable. If you want a big jump in picture clarity on a medium-end system, and you already own a VR headset, spending two grand on a Pimax Dream Air will not give you the picture you're looking for. Spending that amount of money on a 5090 would be a better decision. Oh, Pimax is going to hate me for this, but it's the truth.Watch M
And I want to address that because it's kind of a big thing around the Dream Air is that the build quality is bad and that the um the base face gasket is also bad. Now you can 3D print a face gasket or use the Studioform face gasket, which is also really good. Now personally, I go back and forth, but you can get a lot of good um FOV if you use the Studioform gasket cuz it's real thin.Watch
