In my opinion, the best VR headset for gaming right now has to be PSVR 2. It offers some truly excellent (and often overlooked) features for its price. The Meta Quest 3 is a great all-rounder thanks to its mixed reality abilities, but it's not designed predominantly for gaming, and that's why I think PSVR 2 actually has the edge. That said, with the Steam Frame in the mix, it's going to be a closely contested battle for the next little while.

The original PSVR was known for its fuzzy image and the appearance of the screen door effect which will be a distant memory with the new PSVR 2's higher resolution displays. To give you some idea of the improvement, the original headset had a per eye resolution of 960 by 1080 and the PSVR2 has a vastly improved 2000 by 2040 pixel per eye. Sony themselves are reporting that the PSVR was a 1080p headset versus the PSVR 2 being a 4K headset or 1 megapixel versus 4 megapixel

I think many devs should feel betrayed for being sold a lie by Sony. They released the PSVR2 and then immediately abandoned it, leaving multiple small teams with games on it to fail to find an audience, because Sony refused to even attempt to try to bring in customers for it.

No Man's Sky for PSVR 2 is a brilliant but flawed experience that feels like it's just teetering on the edge of greatness.

When I look back and ask, do I regret picking up this headset? I have to say I I don't cuz I've had great fun playing games like Horizon Call of the Mountain and Gran Turismo 7, but it's a really hard recommendation for somebody else looking to pick something up. I just don't see you getting the value that you would anywhere else and I really do struggle to justify it based on the games that are currently available
