With that enormous data hoarder of a platform linked by ownership to this headset, I’d love to be more optimistic about how the Pico 4 Ultra collects information. I’m not able to say for sure how Bytedance is collecting data, and if it’s doing so from this headset, so for the record, I won’t. Still, at least with this on the shelves, you have a choice of a lesser evil.

Of course, no gadget is perfect, and there are a couple of downsides. First, the face cushion is made of fabric instead of silicone, which means it can soak up sweat during intense workouts, making it a bit tricky to clean. Second, while the built-in speakers are totally fine for casual gaming, they lack a bit of deep bass, and there’s no headphone jack if you wanted to plug in your own high-end audio. Overall, the PICO 4 Ultra is a top-tier headset. It’s powerful, ultra-comfortable, and the mixed reality is phenomenal. If you want a smooth, next-level VR experience without the face strain, this one is definitely a winner!

The Pico 4 Ultra is a really good virtual reality headset at a fair price. For about 50 euros more than the entry-level Quest 3 , you get the same powerful Snapdragon SoC with 4GB more RAM, double the memory, higher resolution passthrough, more battery capacity with fast charging, the latest Wi-Fi 7 standard, and even full-body tracking if you take advantage of the pre-order bundle. On paper, choosing the Pico 4 Ultra over the Quest 3 is an obvious decision. Unfortunately, in reality, the Pico 4 Ultra will have difficulty competing in the consumer market

If you already own a Pico 4, there's no urgent need to upgrade, and if you're looking for a standalone headset and haven't bought one yet, I have to say it's difficult to recommend the Pico 4 Ultra over the Quest 3. As much as I'd like stronger competition, the Quest 3 still offers the best value in its price range, as Meta is constantly releasing new features and improvements. In contrast, Pico is still trying to catch up, especially in terms of software. That said, not everyone wants a Quest, and the Pico 4 Ultra stands perfectly well on its own

But yeah, the Pico 4 Ultra felt more like a refresh than anything with also a software that didn't really live up to the expectations. But this changed it here. So, welcome to the VTech channel. The Pico 4 Ultra actually received its biggest update yet with ability to snap special videos and photos, a much better UI, and also some features that I would love to see on the competition. That is crazy that I'm not there yet. This is finally good enough to actually compete with a MetaQuest 3
