I went for the Flip 7 a few weeks ago, but i had a look at the Grip as well out of curiosity and because i like the upright design. I'm happy with my choice anyway, the price doesn't differ much, but the sound does. I do also like the accessories that comes with the 7.

I really like how they grouped the buttons together on the Flip 7 because if I bring in the Flip 6, you can see the four buttons right here. and then you have to rotate it about a quarter ways around just to get to the power and Bluetooth button. So, I think this is one of the better aesthetic changes here, grouping together that button layout.

I JUST ordered a JBL Clip 5 with the intention of getting the Flip 7 eventually and use Auracast. After hearing the sound demo of the 3I in Costco and watching your video, I’m torn on returning the Clip 5 and checking out Soundcore! The 3I pumps music!

But from a portability standpoint, the Flip 7 is just the smallest and lightest speaker here. And you can easily attach it to your backpack. Whereas with the Charge 6, it is a little larger, but is still very easy to take on the go with you. And it now has an included carrying handle, making it much easier to take it on the go with you as well.

Like I said, all three are built pretty tough, but the Flip 7 does have an advantage with an IP68 rating, giving it a little bit more protection from water compared to the usual IP67 rating. The Sound Link Flex and the Altfield 1 are both IP67, which still means they're fully waterproof and dustproof. You can take any of these speakers to the pool, the beach, or even on a hike without any worries.

All in all, the JBL Flip 7 is a fantastic little portable Bluetooth speaker. Its small convenient size makes it perfect for pretty much any occasion. Whether that's picnics in the garden, going to a festival, spontaneous days out, it'll fit in pretty much any bag, even the little net drinks pocket you see on most bags these days. So there is a difference in battery backup as well and if I talk about sound clarity, personally I liked Philip 7 very much and its build quality is also slightly better than that. The rest does n't look like much. But if you take it in your hand and feel it, touch it and feel it, you will see a huge difference.

One advantage you get with the new JBL Flip 7 is you now get up to 16 hours battery life. Although, keep in mind two of those hours is by using playtime boost where it's only 12 hours for the Flip 5. You can pair two of the Flip 5 speakers together using Party Boost where with the Flip 7, it's using Aracast. So, a little bit different technology there.

If you want a rugged, but reasonably priced portable speaker that can withstand being dropped, handle dirt and water, and can still operate in hot summer temperatures with good sound quality, this is a great option. The bad news is that unfortunately, you can't pair a Flip 7 with any older JBL speakers like the Flip 6 that still rely on Party Boost. Now, I can already read your comments, but Dave, yes, you can. You just need to do it in the app. Unfortunately, this is not the case.

I'm a Jbl fan at first i decided to buy JBL Flip 6/7. But when i listen to the comparison i reasise that JBL IS LOUD But it hurt my EAR. whereelse SONY sound CLEAR+SMOOTH at MAX Volume. With a greate BASS. Really Love the Sound of SONY. It's just awsome.

Just keep in mind it tends to dangle. So, while it's great for portability, it's not ideal if you're after precise directional sound. The Sound Link Flex is slightly larger but weighs almost the same. It's around 589 grams. It also has a built-in loop for hanging, but no carabiner included, and the loop is not replaceable, so if it wears out or if it snaps, that's it. That's all.

Well, number one, it's not compatible in case you want to make calls. So, if somebody calls you on your phone, you won't be able to take the call by pressing a button. There's no such a button. And some people would like this in a Bluetooth speaker. It also doesn't have any mics. It doesn't have any audio jack.

But personally, I just find that the Oldfield 1's convertible strap is a lot more versatile than what the JBL Flip 7 has going on. So, portability-wise, I do prefer the Oldfield 1 here. Also, I do want to point out that with the Sony Oldfield 1, it's a little more durable than the JBL Flip 7 cuz its USBC port is covered and protected, whereas the USBC port on the Flip 7 is exposed.

Now, regarding size, the JBL Charge 6 is a mid-size speaker and the Flip 7 is a small-size speaker. So obviously, the Flip 7 is going to be a little easier to take on the go with you than the Charge 6. But then, there's the Grip, which is just a little smaller than the Flip 7, but I don't think that it's any easier to carry around than the Flip 7.

Whereas with the JBL Flip 7, this speaker has a loop or you can switch it out for a carabiner. It's useful and it gets the job done, but it's not as versatile. And then there's the Sony. This speaker has a larger loop or you can also use it as a carrying handle. So, I feel the Sony is a little more versatile than the JBL.

Now, I wouldn't say that it sounds perfect. I mean, I still do want a bit more heaviness in the vocals, which it being such a small speaker without a dedicated fullrange driver, it's simply not going to have that much fullness or gravity in the mids. Also, while its vocals don't sound shrill, it can still sound a bit shouty.

There's also a new playtime boost feature that can let the new version last even longer, though at the sacrifice of some audio quality. The only downside here, you're going to have to bring your own charging cable since JBL elected to remove them from the box in their latest products. I suppose it is a good way to sort of reduced uh e-waste, but I would have preferred a cable nonetheless. Uh and then moving on to the overall fit and finish of both of these. They do have this look of this wraparound fabric. It does certainly look quite nice. I like the way it looks. It's more rugged. It's more durable. Fabric does have some flex if you drop it or if you knock it somewhere.

The only downside is that they don't have as many useful cords as the Bose, but other than that, the Flip 7 and the Grap are good options if you're looking for something portable and durable, like the Bose Micro.

Although, I will mention with playtime boost turned on, it just doesn't sound as good. Takes about 3 hours to charge back up. The build quality still feels pretty nice on here. Very similar to the JBL Flip 7, but here's a quick sample just to give you an idea of how they sound. Watch your blue eyes fade to gray as you fade away. Value-wise, the Flip 7 mostly justifies its price with upgraded durability, improved sound, and those new features I mentioned like Oriccastast and USBC lossless audio, but it does skip a few things that you should be aware of. There's no microphone, there's no voice assistant support, and there's no backwards compatibility with older JBL speakers.
