The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 delivers a truly immersive 360° sound experience, projecting audio evenly in all directions. It's known for surprisingly bigger 360° sound and deep bass for its size. It also features an outdoor boost mode. This button-activated mode instantly enhances loudness and clarity for open-air environments, making it ideal for picnics or beach trips.

That’s right, I’m pitting the Clip 5 against the Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 , which is an astonishingly punchy Bluetooth speaker given its mini size. It’s pretty rugged as well, and I’m a huge fan of its eye-catching aesthetic.

I found the build quality of this speaker really impressive. Its barrel shape fits nicely in my hand, making it comfortable to hold. The exterior is covered in durable fabric, while the top and bottom are covered with strong plastic caps, giving it a pretty premium feel. It's just over 4 in tall and about 3 and 1/2 in wide weighing just under a pound.

The Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 is not a must-have upgrade for anyone who owns the Wonderboom 3, but like the former version, it's a powerhouse for its size and price. This speaker's small (and rugged enough) to take along for a hike, while traveling, and for tossing next to the pool. Plus, it's so easy to find on sale that it's often available at a cheaper price than the older Wonderboom 3.

This speaker sounds really, really good depending upon what you're listening to and how loud you're listening to it. For my bass torture test, I could only bring it up to about 30 35% volume before those tones started complaining. And my high frequency test, I could bring it up to about 70% volume before I started getting that unpleasant distortion. However, for most music that sounds fantastic at

The new Ultimate Ears Wonderboom 4 doesn't offer many upgrades over the 3, and the UE app still doesn't support it. The change to a USB-C charging port is welcome, but a new Podcast EQ setting is hardly anything to get excited about. That said, the Wonderboom 4 is still a durable, ultra-portable, and convenient speaker for a solo hike or when it's just you and a few friends.

Bass is punchy and aggressive, but the sound stage feels less refined. Vocals and instruments blur at higher volumes. Outdoor boost mode cranks upper mid-range and cuts bass for projecting farther outdoors. Is functional but doesn't sound pleasant. Loud over nuanced. Podcast mode enhances vocal clarity. No app support means you're stuck with three presets.

I don't I don't know if that's technically what it does, but uh you there there a decrease in the amount of that you get when you pump it up for the boosted sound, but I usually just leave mine at standard, so uh the positives are it sounds great. They sound great, especially when paired together. Uh when you get them to the sync and like party mode, I think it's called, and uh which is all right.

The Ultimate Ears WONDERBOOM 4 uses modern Bluetooth 5.2 technology, offering better range, more stable connections, and lower latency compared to the JBL Charge 4's older Bluetooth 4.2. This makes the WONDERBOOM 4 better for watching videos without audio delays.

Uh the negatives and and I'm not going to spend a lot of time on this obviously, but the negatives would be that these batteries are advertised to last 14 hours up to 14 hours of play time. Now, I'm imagining that if you play these speakers at let's say on a a scale of 1 to 10, you play them around three you know, four then you'll obviously get a lot longer.

Bass heads may prefer the weight of the Wonderboom 4, but the ES20 still offers a punchy and relatively clear low-end effort. Just don’t expect it to hit those deep dark notes in the sub-bass realm.
