The Max's dual brushes, one rubber brush for hard floors and a bristle brush for carpet, kept pulling that hair into the bin. Coupled with a support chatbot that I'm fairly sure was a hallucinating AI model, and the janky user experience in the app as a whole, iRobot’s user-facing side of things marred the otherwise solid cleaning capabilities of the Roomba Max 705. If choosing a robovac was just about the hardware, then the 705 Combo could be a contender, but it isn’t. Robot vacuums need to balance the connected experience with the physical, or risk a comedy of errors turning into a tragedy.

super expensive robot and for what you're paying for this robot, you're not getting good results. It's very heavy. I've had lots of glitches with it with the docking station, kind of not knowing if the dust bags installed sometimes or the dirty water tank. It's rather large and heavy for what you're getting and it just doesn't do the best job of vacuuming. Now, with that being said, there is a there is a bright spot. Now, that bright spot is robot health. So, we're going to go in.

I'd like to give you a quick preview of the carpet cleaning performance of the iRoot Roomba Max 705 combo as I've already tested my soft blue carpet and the results were really, really poor. Let's take a quick look at the whole thing. We start with 187.1 g and after seven runs, we only reach a pickup of 1.9 g, which hasn't improved even after another seven runs. A 19% removal rate is really bad. This result is the worst I found for this carpet so far. Even a 205 combo performed better. At least three things could be the cause, but I think the main one lies in the carpet protection plate.
