Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra
A prior-gen flagship still named Best Overall by Good Housekeeping in 2026, which is the strongest possible proof of platform longevity: mature firmware, known failure modes, established support.

A previous-generation flagship kept alive on reputation; the Saros line above it and the Mova P50 Pro Ultra and Dreame L60 Pro Ultra beside it have all passed it on cleaning hardware and dock automation. Paying old-flagship money for superseded tech fails this lens.

I got the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra-whatever and I'm really happy with it Vacuuming and mopping are both excellent (with the caveats below) and I'll be sticking with them for my next one unless something truly spectacular comes along from someone else. Couple of considerations to be aware of though: Camera/obstacle detection is great, but not quite detailed enough to avoid small objects like cat toys and shoe laces which get chewed up in the rollers, so we can't just automate a daily schedule without doing a quick visual check around the house before setting it off.Read thread K
Then you want to take a look at the Robo Rock S8 MaxV Ultra. Once you map the house and it has the floor plan, there is not much else you have to do afterwards. It has a lot of AI baked into it.Watch R
The Shark AI Ultra dominates on rating quality (86.4) and recency (84.5), while the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra shows strongest consensus (60). However, consensus weakens as prices increase—the top-ranked Shark has the lowest consensus score (40), suggesting premium models achieve broader user agreement but lower overall ratings. Review volume drops sharply outside the top three: Dreame X40 Ultra has only 7 verified reviews despite high engagement, and Ecovacs Deebot X2 Omni has only 2 signals, indicating immature market data for these newer entries.Read V Vacuum Nerds Vacuum Nerds · 30.2K subscribers · May 2024

The Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra makes hands-off cleaning easier with its all-in-one dock, which empties, washes, and dries the mop while refilling detergent and water. Its smart dirt detection re-mops areas that need extra attention , and built-in pet cameras let you check in on your furry friends while it cleans. Extendable side brushes and a mop that lifts over carpets help the vacuum reach corners, edges, and tight spots for a more thorough clean.Read S
Performance across various debris types is excellent, and it handles both hard floors and carpets with minimal fuss.Watch T
My previous top pick, the $1,799.99 Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra , is an exceptional vacuum cleaner and a very good mop for a very good price. Its dual rubber roller brushes and 10,000Pa suction make it great on carpets; its sonic mopping is excellent on hard floors, and its AI-powered obstacle detection is very good. The Saros 10 is an improvement in every way, but consider this if you’re looking to save money. Read our review .Read T

The S8 Max Ultra is a very solid all-rounder, and only lost its place in our ranking because Roborock came out with some even better models very shortly afterwards. On test, it proved itself remarkably hands-off, mapping and navigating with no fuss. And of course, the vacuuming and mopping are both effective, too.Read 5
It's a fullervice cleaning system designed to take almost all the hassle out of keeping your home spotless. Its all-in-one dock does the heavy lifting by automatically emptying dust, washing mops with hot water, drying them, and even dispensing detergent. It refills itself, charges quickly, and only re-washes and remops when dirt is detected, meaning your floors stay consistently fresh without you lifting a finger.Watch R r/Roborock u/Pristine_Antelope787 · owner
I have had my S8 MaxV Ultra for 2 year now without an issue. I do the maintenance on it regularly, which is the key. Yes, this takes a little bit of time each month, but a lot less time than doing the floors myself. I think is like anything the better you maintain it the longer it lasts and better it performs.Read thread T

Yes. You get way better mopping, higher raising mop pads, hot water mop washing, an edge extending side brush, more suction(not the most important thing in the world but still), better obstacle avoidance, Matter support, auto water refilling and auto mop drying.Read thread G
One of the most advanced robot vacuum and mop systems available for homeowners seeking a truly hands-free cleaning experience. The standout feature of this model is the integrated refill and drainage system, which takes automation to a whole new level. Unlike traditional robot vacuum docks that require frequent manual water tank maintenance, this system can automatically refill clean water and drain dirty water when properly installed. This dramatically reduces routine maintenance and helps create a near fully autonomous cleaning solution. When it comes to vacuuming performance, the Robbo Rock S8 MaxV Ultra delivers an impressive 10 comma 0000 Pyperforce suction power. This powerful cleaning system effectively lifts dust, dirt, pet hair, crumbs, and debris from hard floors and carpets.Watch F Facebook techgadgetscanada
With a built-in camera, the Roborock S8 MaxV can essentially ‘see’ and avoid obstacles and hazards.s I definitely found in my testing it is excellent at avoiding getting tangled up, and navigating gently around things like table legs and baseboards.View post T
This dramatically reduces human intervention, making it one of the closest things to a set-it-and-forget-it cleaning device currently available. Another major highlight is the suction power. With up to 10,000 pascals of suction, it is designed to handle everything from fine dust and pet hair to larger debris on both hard floors and carpets. In real-world use, this level of suction helps it perform especially well in homes with pets or high foot traffic, where dirt build-up is more frequent. The mopping system is equally advanced. The dual spinning mop pads combined with automatic lifting allow the robot to transition between hard floors and carpets without dragging moisture on our rugs.Watch S
Read S
When it comes to cleaning, this robot is a beast. The main headline feature is the suction power, 10,000 PA, which is a lot. For anyone not familiar, PA stands for Pascals, a measure of suction. Most budget robots max out at a couple thousand pascals, so this is a big leap. It means this bot picks up dust, sand, rice, cracker crumbs, pet hair, whatever from tiles, hardwood, and especially carpets. I noticed a big difference, especially after letting it run through a week of daily cleaning. The usual tumble weeds of pet hair and fine dirt just didn't show up on my floors.Watch E

Bottom Line: Choose if you want a hands-off flagship that's strong on carpets, edge coverage, and mop-lift to protect rugs. Skip if you're price-sensitive or you have lots of long hair/cord clutter, since some tests show tangling and uneven hard-floor pickup.View post D
Its new duo spiral detangle brush is a major upgrade over previous Yui models and clearly outperforms what's found on both the X9 and S8. In our testing, it handled long hair with near zero tangling, making it a great option for homes with pets or long-haired family members. Conicle roller designs are the future, and most brands are now shifting in that direction to better prevent hair tangles.Watch H

While it is undeniably powerful with excellent suction and thoughtful features like self-cleing and voice control, it's important to note that similar results can be achieved with a more budget-friendly option. The fact that the unit does not come with a sample of cleaning solution, which is standard for some other models is another slight drawback. In conclusion, the Robok S8 MaxV Ultra is a strong contender in the high-end robot vacuum category.Watch

I purchased a Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra from Sotel.DE in May 2024, but just 8 weeks later, the product experienced a power failure, rendering it unusable. I reported the issue promptly to both Roborock and Sotel.DE on 15th July 2024. Despite providing detailed documentation, videos, and completing all troubleshooting steps as requested, neither company has taken full responsibility for resolving this issue.Read T
