I spent my own hard-owned money on this, a Bambu Lab P2S – specifically the combo with the AMS 2 Pro, and I’ve printed a fair number of custom parts with it – mostly for my custom sim rig cockpit (video in the cards above) – and I thought I’d give you my thoughts and experience with it, because hot damn this is good. I’ll say this up front, this feels a lot closer to a tool than a hobby.

I am enjoying it. I’m pretty new to 3d printing. I do think it’s fairly easy and it seems reliable. It’s almost never not running - I’m about 2-3 weeks in. Considering how long the p1s lasted and is still a serious choice, I think the p2s is a safe investment for the future. I do mostly use Bambu filament because I don’t have to go in and select brand and type of filament.

That combination is why the verdict here is a buy for the right profile. What you give up is openness. The firmware is proprietary and third-party slicers are blocked, so you slice in Bambu Studio and nowhere else, with OrcaSlicer officially rejecting Bambu Connect integration. For most buyers that's a fair trade for how well the integrated stack works.

I bought the Bambu Lab P2S Combo the day it was announced, and I have exactly zero regrets with my purchase. It’s an affordable full-size CoreXY enclosed printer, packaged with Bambu Lab’s AMS 2 Pro for multicolor printing (if you don’t think you’ll want multicolor support, you can also purchase it without the AMS 2 Pro ).

The P2S hits a price-to-capability ratio that's hard to argue with. It supports up to 24 filaments with multiple AMS 2 Pro units, covers the full range of standard and engineering-grade materials, and runs on Bambu's current-generation platform with software support through 2030. This is the workhorse.

I bought it, so obviously I think the answer is yes for me, but just because this is the right choice for me doesn't necessarily mean it's the best fit for everyone. So, let's start by asking who is it for? And this I think is one of the P2S's biggest strengths because it it does kind of cover a lot of bases.

The P2S's light & camera setup is a huge upgrade. The P2S also does automatic pressure advance calibration before a print, which can be quite handy if you print with lots of different filaments. With the P1S you will have to manually calibrate for each spool since it doesn't have automatic calibration.

And one thing I noticed right away while unboxing is these nice handles on the side, just like the H2Ds have. That's just much easier to lift up and carry around. Not that it's a heavy printer, but this just makes it so much easier. All right, now we can take the top cover off here. I'm just going to keep this to the side for now, but we can open that up while we're here.

Um, the setup was honestly one of the easiest parts. Um, it was actually easier than my P1S, and that was super super easy. Took me about 30 minutes to remove everything. Uh, plug in the cables, power it on, and let it do its thing. Um, calibration is fully automatic just like the P1S. Um, and it takes about 25 minutes or so. I think 26 minutes. Uh, you literally press a button and watch it work.

This is positioned to be the bread and butter of 3D printers, the reference model, and probably the one that most people will, or at least should be choosing if they want a new Bambu machine, so the P2S will be setting the pace for every printer that it competes against with the things that it gets right and gets wrong. And it does both, extensively. But it also offers a glimpse into what the Bamb

Which I love the printer, so my impulse is to say yes, but also a lot of things have changed in the past few months that make the value of the P2S a little more of a gray area than it was before. So first off, the reason I even chose this printer in the first place was that I had a Prusa Mini and it its power supply broke and it was just kind of time. That was a 7-year-old printer.

Frequently asked questions

It ranks #2 (S tier) on our consolidated 3d printers board, drawn from 75 cited sources across 56 outlets.

Firmware restrictions. Cloud-dependent workflow. Cloud-access issues. Firmware bugs. Poor support.

Someone who wants multi-material printing at high speed and is comfortable with a cloud-connected machine. The Bambu Lab P2S is in S tier on our 3D printers board for its dual-extruder design, fast printing and high print quality, backed by a 24-month warranty. If you want local control without firmware restrictions, the Prusa Core One in A tier is the better fit. If you want the fastest printer with no recorded cons, the Bambu Lab X2D is ranked first.

Firmware and cloud access. Reviewers report firmware restrictions, firmware bugs and cloud-access issues on the Bambu Lab P2S, and one declared "never again" over its cloud-dependent workflow. Support reports are split: one source praises responsive support, another calls it poor. Print quality itself is not the complaint.

Its workflow is cloud dependent, and that is the main criticism against the Bambu Lab P2S on our board. Cloud-access issues mean a service outage or an account problem can get between you and your printer. If you want a machine that works fully offline, check the maker's current local-mode terms before buying or choose the Prusa Core One.

Yes. The Bambu Lab P2S has a dual-extruder design that gives excellent multi-material capability, so it can change colour or material within one print. Expect multicolour prints to take longer and use more filament than a single-colour print, because the printer purges material at each change.

It is built to be kept current: the Bambu Lab P2S gets frequent firmware updates and ships with a 24-month warranty, which is the longest reliability signal on our board. The risk is on the software side, where firmware bugs and cloud issues are reported, rather than the hardware. Nozzles, build plates and belts are wear items on any printer and are replaced, not repaired.

The Bambu Lab X2D for most people. Both sit in S tier on our board, but the Bambu Lab X2D ranks first with a larger build volume, the fastest speeds and no recorded cons, while the Bambu Lab P2S carries firmware restriction and cloud complaints. Pick the Bambu Lab P2S if its dual-extruder multi-material printing is the feature you need.
