So, it's a great EDC light because it's always where you need it cuz it's so small. That's My hand is about 4 or 4 and 1/2 inches wide and fits right in right in my hand easily. So, it's great for a pocket light. Super compact. And everything you need, nothing you don't.

I don't think the Microstream can be beat, for the combination of size, output, rechargeability and price. It's not perfect, but I don't think anything better exists that isn't more expensive or requires removing the battery to charge.

And this one gets more use than all the rest of them because it fits in my pocket so nicely. This clip fits uh I put this in my left pocket. I usually carry a a knife in my right pocket. I'm um in the trades, do a bunch of remodeling, and so this is an everyday carry for me. About 90% of the times I've got this in my pocket, and I just use it for everything.

Frequently asked questions

It ranks #9 (C tier) on our consolidated flashlights board, drawn from 14 cited sources across 11 outlets.

Weak build. Short battery life. High early failure rate.

Someone who needs the smallest possible light and accepts that it may not last. It sits in C tier at rank 9 on our flashlights board. The research credits a very compact size, bright and consistent output and a 1,500 lumen rating, but the verdict is blunt: weak construction, short runtime and a high early failure rate. If you want a small light that lasts, the JetBeam E26 UV Kunai in A tier is the board's better compact pick, and the ThruNite Archer 2A C in S tier is the better light overall.

For a compact light, the JetBeam E26 UV Kunai in A tier, which the research credits with a compact design, durable construction and good brightness and battery life. For the best light regardless of size, the ThruNite Archer 2A C, the rank 1 pick in S tier, with solid build quality and long battery life and no recorded failures.

Not long enough, on the evidence. The research records a high early failure rate and a weak build, which is the opposite of what a light this small is supposed to offer. Runtime is short too, a consequence of the tiny cell. It is the kind of light to buy as a backup rather than as the one you rely on.

Three things in the research: a weak build, short battery life and a high early failure rate. The output itself is rated bright and consistent while it works, so the problem is the body and the cell rather than the LED. The pros also list a rugged construction, which conflicts with the weak build finding, and the verdict comes down on the side of weak.

It fits, which is the whole appeal: the research calls it very compact. A keychain light gets knocked, dropped and sat on more than any other light, and that is exactly where the weak build and early failures show up. Treat it as a convenience light for finding a keyhole and carry something sturdier for real work.
