So, that's going to be hard to beat for a phone in this category. Looks like they kept the physical SIM card in this. I was getting a little concerned after looking at the new Pixel phones. Safety and warranty information, USBC charging cable. Oh, wow. This actually looks a lot like Okay, you can see it's a little bit different than my S25 Plus.

Ultimately, I enjoyed my time with the Samsung Galaxy A7 5G. Like I said, these phones are honestly really funny to me. Not in a bad way, but because this really feels like Samsung's version of bare minimum on here when it comes to budgeted smartphones. And surprisingly, I don't have any complaints. Okay, I actually like this design way better than the A16. So, so this kind of has the same design as the A15, just black, which is nice. And they actually make a blue color in that. So, yeah, it's a lot better than this glossy the A16. I've always hated the glossy. So, I think it looks good. The camera bumps nice. It ain't like the A26. I thought it would be very close to the A26.

We wish they had added 4K video recording instead. Like the previous model, the A7 has IP54 rated ingress protection against dust and splashes of water. The display is the same too, except that it now has Gorilla Glass Victus protection. Otherwise, it's still a 6.7 in OLED with a 1080p resolution and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The display is sharp enough and as an OLED is contrasty, too.

The Galaxy A17 5G’s zoom flexibility isn’t very good, either. There’s no telephoto sensor, so the primary camera has to do all the heavy lifting, covering the full range from 1x to 10x zoom. Honestly, though, I think images up to about 4x are usable enough that you could post them on social media without concern.

The fingerprint scanner is built into the power button on the side, and it works, but it's small and flush with the frame, so unlocks sometimes take a second try. You also notice occasional stutters when unlocking, which ties into the biggest weakness here, the performance. Although I wish the Galaxy A17 had better ingress protection than the basic IP54 dust and splash resistance because the way some Chinese brands have so aggressively pushed flagship level IP68 and IP69 rating on their budget phones is something Samsung desperately needs to catch up to. And one interesting thing I've noticed about the Galaxy A7 is that it's slimmer and lighter than the Galaxy A16.

Now, overall, compared to the A16 5G, we're not getting a whole lot of new features with this device. We are getting a refresh look to it, and I'm definitely a fan of that. We're getting a different looking camera module here, and I also like this finish on the back of the device. But beyond that, we're only gaining a couple of features. For example, we're getting optical image stabilization.

Okay, let me start by saying there's some good news and some bad news. Which one do you want first? Surely the good one. Now, coming from previous generations, you get better build quality, slightly refined design, and OIS added to the main camera. The bad news? Well, it has the same processor as the Galaxy A14 5G. That phone was released in 2022, almost 3 years ago.

It's not the brightest in the world, but again, this is a budget phone, so we're going to temper expectations whenever it comes to that. But if you want to get a phone and not spend a lot of money, this one, it looks premium enough. It's got an all plastic body, basically polycarbonate, and it has actually Gorilla Glass Victus on the front, so you get a decent level of protection on the screen.

The first con is that there are no notable upgrades on this device other than a couple things. The first one, of course, is going to be the faceelift they did on the back of this device. It looks much more modern. It looks much more sleek and it looks much more in line with the Galaxy S series and the FE series as well. So definitely looks a lot newer, a lot more modern on the back of this device.

Both these devices have a pretty um solid build especially for only being 200 bucks. However, I believe the Galaxy A17 um is the better looking device overall. However, the Revel 8 does look nice and it does have this frosted back. Um this is a subjective thing, but the bezels are just so much thicker on the Revel 8.

The only real downside for me for this display is the fact that Samsung did not give us a 120 Hz refresh rate, which is what the competition is giving. But don't get me wrong, it is still pretty smooth and seamless when you are using this display. But if they had given us 120 Hz, that would have just been that slightly better of grade that obviously we would appreciate.

The only downside here is that even though this is a matte back, it still picks up fingerprints and smudges pretty quickly. So, if you don't use a pouch on this, you'll be wiping it down a lot. On the display side, we still get pretty much the same specs from its predecessor. The only good thing is that the display is now protected by a coning Gorilla Glass Victus.

If display is something that you prioritize with your mobile device, then you would definitely go with the Galaxy in terms of sharpness. Now, in terms of refresh rate, absolutely Moto G beats it, but 90 Hz is still nothing to slouch at. It's still a pretty smooth experience.

For comparison, the Galaxy A26 5G offers slightly less endurance at 17 hours of video playback with a full charge in around 1 hour and 29 minutes, while the Galaxy A36 5G extends battery life up to 29 hours and reaches a full charge in approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes.
