So, this model I think is worth a definite look if you're after something different versus say the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, which is why I say check this one out as a good alternative because hardware wise, there is so much in this that Xiaomi's put in. The camera system is stunning. Now, we have the 17 Ultra. We didn't get the 16 Ultra because, I think this is true, Xiaomi didn't want to come across as being one generation behind Apple with the iPhone 17. But this is the 17 Ultra. I absolutely fell in love with the small little details that they put into, especially the Leica edition. Now, here I have the global Leica edition, and it looks quite different.Watch S
New design, refined build, and most importantly, a camera system with a huge 1-in sensor. I mean, it's not as huge as this camera right here, but for a phone, it's a pretty big one. So, I've been using this Xiaomi 17 Ultra for the past few days during my trip and I'm super impressed with the camera, okay? Because what it is offering is totally different from every smartphone in the market now. First off, it has a 200 megapixel telephoto sensor, which is mind-blowingly high-res for a zoom lens.Watch M
Simply put, this dramatically increases the sensor's light holding capability in previously challenging scenarios. As Xiaomi say themselves, this 17 Ultra is now capable of delivering exceptionally outstanding HDR performance.Watch V

But there's a mode in here that I've been using constantly that I genuinely think is better than my iPhone. Xiaomi have done really, really well mainly with the display, but we have to talk about consuming content and the speakers. Take a listen for yourself, but again, it's a YouTube video.Watch T
The camera performance of the Xiaomi 17 series is quite good, and they've even equipped the Redmi K90 series with the Light Hunter 950, a high-end sensor. I've truly become to love the experience on the 17 Ultrava with results that are just speaking far more to me in terms of its photography style. There are a few reasons why I would call this device camera smartphone of the year. One of those is this gorgeous almost 7 in like display, 6.9 in display with this fast fingerprint reader and very secure 2D face unlock that is super super quick like we know it from Xiaomi devices. We have a good operating system finally here in Hypos 3.0.Watch M

Once the new toy excitement fades and everyday life set in, I can safely say that this is one of the most beautiful phones of the year. I know the year isn't over yet, but still, that's my opinion. It's not just about the design itself. It's the details that, especially in Leica version, really impress. The textured sides, the rotating ring, redesigned volume buttons, and the subtle Leica logo.Watch P

Still, I preferred last year's Xiaomi 15 Ultra in terms of zooming: while it didn't have a vario zoom camera, it had slightly better sharpness, especially on its longer periscope. Of course, as with most current flagships, zooming in excessively, usually past 20-30X, results in very heavy reliance on AI upscaling algorithms, and that's precisely the case with the Xiaomi 17 Ultra as well.Read F

I really love the 17 Ultra (display, performance, image quality), but I've had bad luck with the camera twice now: The first unit had a focus problem where images became blurry at 3.2x zoom, so I exchanged it. The selfie camera has also been meaningfully upgraded, from a 32MP fixed-focus unit to a 50MP sensor with autofocus. Detail levels are high, close-up selfies are particularly sharp, and edge detection in good lighting is better than the Vivo X300 Pro’s — though the Xiaomi brightens the face slightly more, which can tip into overexposure.Read T
The Xiaomi 17 Ultra is the lightest of the trio at 218 g, but it's still a big fat old slab which certainly gave me a funny gait when it was squeezed into my jeans. That said, while the Xiaomi 17 Ultra pushes imaging performance and daily usability close to the limit, it isn’t without shortcomings.
