The Pixel 10a is an incredible value. It’s a delightful smartphone with an affordable price and all the useful Pixel features that fans expect. Yes, there are compromises, as one should expect at this price, the most painful–to me–being the lack of Pixelsnap/MagSafe magnetic connectivity for accessories and faster wireless charging. But the Pixel 10a also carries the A-series tradition forward by

Google, bumped up the Pixel 10A is wired charging speed to 45W, which is a considerable upgrade from the 23W on the nine A. The battery size stays the same at 5100 Miller Ampere hours, but that should mean it'll charge faster.

The Pixel 10a features the same lovely 6.3-inch 120Hz FHD+ (2424 x 1080 pixels, 422ppi, 20:9) HDR-capable OLED display as the Pixel 9a, with a few improvements. First, it’s a brighter screen (3000 vs 2700 nits peak). Second, the bezels – while still chunky – are slightly thinner due to the Pixel 10a’s marginally shorter and narrower chassis.

And I actually really like that. Not many phones these days just do that anymore, where they just have a completely flat back to make it perfect to use on a table without any wobbles. Now, realistically speaking, I mean, most people are going to throw a case on their phone anyway, which makes it flat no matter what. But still, props to Google for getting rid of that wobble that none of us like wit

The Pixel 10a is finally here, and it's. familiar. Google's newly unveiled mid-range Pixel is up for preorder now and will hit stores on March 5, giving you a couple of weeks to decide if it's for you. However, if you're familiar with Google's recent Pixel launches, including last year's Pixel 9a , the decision might not be easy.

Now, the design can be described as hardcore minimalist, which I'm kind of into. We have an aluminum frame, matte plastic back, and it's actually a bit lighter than the Pixel 9a, and noticeably lighter than the Pixel 10. But, also looks and feels solid. Whereas another device like this with different materials and look and same weight might feel a little cheap.

That context is crucial to understanding the Google Pixel 10a, which I've been using for the past two weeks. The past four generations of A-series Pixel phones came with complete redesigns and performance upgrades, but the Pixel 10a is different. It's using a design that's almost identical to the Pixel 9a, and it is powered by the same Tensor G4 processor.

Starting with the design, I do have to say it was great last year, and I still feel the same way in 2026. We have these matte rails and a matte back finish that still feels great. Having a phone with this full matte texture on it never gets old and always feels good to hold in the hand, no matter what. The lack of a camera bar is also a choice that is incredibly underrated.

While the Pixel 10a is a perfectly good mid-range phone, if we remove the blinkers, then the distinct lack of upgrades over its predecessor means you will get a much better value handset by opting for the 9a. There are also strong rivals if you’re not set on a Pixel.

While I think there's nothing wrong with sticking with the design and making minor iterations, the Pixel 10A feels like it's making all of the right choices physically. Now, I like to say sometimes, "Congratulations, you bought the same phone twice." But I just be trolling. A lot of times you're getting a new processor, you know, you're getting better cameras, but it's basically the same phone. Not this time. This is one of those times where it's congratulations, you bought the same phone twice. This is the exact same phone.

They haven't changed anything since last year. Exactly. Oh, hi there. I'm Sam Tucker from the company that gets more money the less effort it puts in. And you may have heard recently that Google just released the old new Pixel 10A that's almost physically identical to last year's 9A. And I just have to say that's some impressive laziness. >> Thank you.

Paying full retail for the 10A just doesn't make much sense right now.

Well, I'm going to tell you everything you need to know about choosing between these two phones, but in the end, I'm going to recommend that you not get either of these and get something else instead. So, let's start with the more expensive Pixel 10. This phone came out in August 2025, so it's about 7 months old at this point. But, don't let its age deceive you.

Budget phones with long software support, like the Samsung Galaxy A17 5G or Google Pixel 10a, offer exceptional security longevity at a fraction of flagship prices. Performance degrades before software. The main compromise is that budget processors may start feeling sluggish by year four or five, even if the software is fully up to date. But when I saw the price of Google Pixels 10A, the most recent version of their budget line, for four hundred twenty dollars, I was drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Or I guess in this case, a budget tech enthusiast to an affordable price device.
