If ‘resolution’ is your buzzword of choice, the Vive Pro 2 is the one for you. With a resolution of 2,448 x 2,448 per eye, the HTC Vive Pro 2 will let you forget all about the screen-door effect, but you’ll need a powerful PC to run it.

The Vive Pro 2 keeps the ergonomic design of the Vive Pro (which we quite liked) but upgrades the screen to a pair of 5k displays running at 120hz with a 120 degree field of view. HTC also showed off the Focus 3, an update to their professional-grade headset intended for training and workplace collaboration.

Reviewers wanted more changes, (and in many cases not really for good reason) but what we actually got was STILL the highest resolution display ever in a consumer device and likely the best overall package for enthusiast VR. Its now available in full kit form so is easy to purchase with everything you need in the box. Nikki takes another look at how it stacks up.

That said, this pre-production unit I have does have a problem with the ratchet. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a more widespread problem. One of the biggest lures of the VIVE Pro 2 is the 120° field of view, a massive upgrade that's hard to quantify without seeing it for yourself. A little bit of testing confirms that it will in fact hit that 120° horizontal view.

If your PC is still running an older GTX 1060, you'll either see a drop in frame rate or be forced to lower graphic settings, which defeats the purpose of buying a premium headset. The field of view is another talking point.
