However, and immediately, I have to say that there's a lot of positive things here because Elgato do seem to have ramped it up a little bit here on Apple Silicon as far as, you know, the Elgato capture cards are concerned and stuff. So, that's a positive thing that I can say straight away before I even get into anything.

You can see that it's true 4K capture. It works with the PS5, the Xbox, and more. Plug and play for Windows, Mac, and iPad. So, we have high frame rate, ultra low latency, HDR10 capture, HDR10 tone mapping, audio input, HDMI 2 interface, USB 3.2 interface, and to be honest, there's not too much to this little device. On the back here, you will see a USBC port. Comes with the cable for that.

But as you'll see, my actual experience on Mac OS doesn't really match their pitch. So, I came in with high expectations. I read the spec sheet, but the specs only matter if the realworld results are there. So, if you've been eyeing something like this for your setup and you are a Mac user, pay close attention.

And after doing that, your Mac will no longer see your 4KX, which means that OBS will no longer see your 4KX. And because before you updated to 14.5, your 4KX was in the 10 Gbits per second mode, which is what it should be in. But in 10 Gbits per second mode, your iPad will not see it then. Now, the problem is because your Mac is now in a position where it can't see your 4KX.

The Elgato 4K X does not work with the new M4 iPad Pro. In fact, it does not work with my M2 iPad Pro either, although, it did work with it before I updated the official Elgato software for Mac.

This problem with the Elgato 4K X is the lack of option to choose rec.709 as the video inout colour space. Instead, there is only one option, CS 601 which I assume is supposed to say rec.601.
