The AVerMedia Live Gamer Portable 2 is a weird-looking capture card, but it does a great job at giving you portable 1080p 60FPS gameplay recordings directly to a MicroSD card, without the need for a computer.

The quality of the game play capture is fantastic, but people with weaker PC's or laptops will find it difficult to record the 60mb/sec using PC mode. The option to use PC Free mode will be something that makes it possible for anyone to record their game play without the need of an upgraded computer or even the need for a computer to record PS4 or Xbox game play.

Now, this capture card doesn’t offer the recording resolution and passthrough of our top pick, the AVerMedia Live Gamer Ultra 2.1. Still, it delivers a commendable performance, with the ability to capture 1440p at 60fps and 4K at 30fps. Again, that’s more than most streaming services are capable of, so your streams should still look great to viewers.

It seemed to be very similar to my PVR 60 Pro, but a few shortcomings as well. For power and to connect to the PC it uses micro USB and USB 2.0, which simply do not provide the same speed throughput as USB 3.0 or USB-C does. That was definitely disappointing. It also utilizes a Micro SD card versus a standard size SD card.
