If you compare some of the best GPUs available now, then you’ll know that the AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card still stands as a titan, rivaling some of the top Nvidia cards. This is a top-of-the-line graphics card from AMD. It’s very powerful for tasks like gaming and video editing, beating out even other AMD cards, even the RDNA 4 cards, and competing with Nvidia and Intel options.

This is the most powerful card from the last generation. So, for those who watched some of my previous videos, I recently upgraded to a 90 70 XT from the newer generation. Um, I w up selling that card because I needed a little bit more uh VRAM. So, this comes actually in 24 GB. There's no equivalent of this in the new generation.

If you’ve just gotten your hands on the AMD RX 7900 XTX or are thinking about upgrading, you’re in for a treat. This beast is designed to handle the latest AAA titles with ease, but knowing which game settings work best on the RX 7900 XTX can make all the difference between silky smooth gameplay and frustrating frame drops.

The RX7900 XTX is a beast of a GPU. With 24 GB of ultra fast GDDDR6 memory, it's more than capable of handling modern AAA titles at 4K with max settings, including ray tracing where supported. Users online consistently report smooth frame rates, even in demanding titles like Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Forbidden West, and Microsoft Flight Simulator.

Although the RX 7900 XTX has slightly worse ray-tracing performance than the RTX 4080, and AMD's older version of FSR upscaling technology, which the card supports, isn't as strong as DLSS, the RX 7900 XTX is a true representation of AMD's "brute-force" approach, providing more power while still beating NVIDIA on price.

As a 7900 XTX owner, if you can grab the RTX 4080 near the price of a 9070XT, buy that, otherwise the 9070XT and 7900 XTX are a wash, both will take wins in different games, the 9070 XT is faster with FSR4, the 7900 XTX has a copious 24GB Vram capacity, meaning if games do increase memory need in VRAM, it will outlive the 16GB cards.

While these RX 7900 series cards are both less expensive than what the RTX 4080 launched for, they aren't exactly cheap, either.

The Powercolor Radeon RX 7900 XTX Red Devil OC is a genuinely excellent 4K gaming card that makes a few real compromises you need to know about before buying. The 24GB GDDR6, the DisplayPort 2.1 outputs, and the strong rasterisation performance are legitimate strengths. The Red Devil cooler keeps things cool and reasonably quiet.

If you need maximum raw power and extra VRAM, the 7900 XTX is still a beast. But if you care about efficiency, ray tracing, and future tech, the 9070 XT is the better choice. assuming you can find it at a decent price.

The RTX 4090 wins for most people because CUDA ecosystem maturity means your inference stack just works. The RX 7900 XTX wins on value if you run Linux and don't mind getting your hands dirty. Everything after that depends on your workload, OS, and how much you value your own time.

And also, there is a little bit of coil whine, or quite a bit of coil whine actually when it's running at a high FPS. And that's it, guys, really. As you can see, like I said, there's a bit there's quite a lot of noise from the fans when it's running at full tilt.

The 7900xtx is a better card, I don't care what fans boys say. I literally had an 9070xt and 5070ti in my hands and went with the 7900xtx last March over the other two. I could have sold my card last month or now and buy an 9070xt if I wanted one because its a lot of hype.

But, when it comes to features, AMD's FSR still feels kind of a step behind Nvidia's DLSS, and frankly, Nvidia blows AMD out of the water when it comes to ray tracing. As for frame gen, that really doesn't matter to me. I genuinely do not like the technology, um but upscaling I think is a great technology, and I do miss DLSS, especially now we have DLSS 4.5.
