For a current pick I have since reviewed the VIOFO A229 Plus, a modern dual 2K cam with HDR, 60FPS, and STARVIS 2 sensors, and it is where the buy links point. This follow-up stands as my honest long-term take on the DR02.Read G
But the kind of features this camera provides, the kind of video quality this camera provides, I mean it is simply the best. And I think I should just show you rather than tell you what this camera is capable of and why you should invest in the A229 Plus. You're watching Travel Tech. Let's get started. So here's the V4 A229 Plus 2 channel dash cam or the dual channel variant.Watch C
Today I'm going to be reviewing the VFO A229 Plus, which is the A229 Pro's little baby brother, so to speak. It's got 2K footage up front, 2K rear footage if you do the two channel setup, or you can have a three channel setup with a 1080p interior camera. I'm going to get into the features of this dash cam and give you guys my honest opinion about it.Watch D
The Viofo A229 Plus is a high-performance dashcam that offers a number of outstanding features, including:Read G
The reason why I've been recommending VFO dash cams is simply because when I first discovered them, I was blown away by the quality of what I was seeing. As some of you know, I do part three training, part two training, instructor training, and a PDI sent me some footage, and the dash cam that he was using was the A229 VFO Pro, and I was blown away. A few reasons.Watch A
Notice how you can still see the detail of inside the shed and also see the detail outside. Typically with cheaper cameras, it would be completely blown out like this. Similarly, if we go to the back camera for the same example, you can see that it's a really bright day, yet the camera doesn't struggle to capture all the detail in the shadows and the highlights.Watch E
All details are perfectly legible.Watch M
And honestly, when you're recording your adventures, having that interior perspective adds so much to your content. The A229 Plus records in 2K resolution.Watch T
The standout feature of the A229 Plus is its use of dual Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 image sensors. VIOFO is one of the first manufacturers to bring this advanced sensor technology to both front and rear cameras, and the results are impressive.Watch G
The DO A229 Plus is a dual channel dash cam setup that captures footage in stunning 1440p quality both front and rear. That's quad HD video from both angles. Powered by the incredible Star 2 image sensors that give you industryleading low light performance. Whether you're driving in broad daylight or on a pitch black road, this thing captures every detail clearly, crisply, and with minimal noise.Watch G
The VIOFO A229 Plus dashcam, front and rear 2K dual STARVIS 2, redefines the dual channel security category by combining cutting-edge Sony low-light sensors, robust high dynamic range, and high-speed wireless connectivity into a discreet, reliability-focused package. The primary technological breakthrough centers on its dual Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor architecture paired with two-channel HDR.Watch

It would be great if they were also readable at night but sadly I don't think my trying to check that from your youtube video makes any sense and I have read some discussion that most dash cams really suck for that kind of detail.Watch T
So, for daytime, I'd call it a tie. More resolution and detail on the Red Tiger, but more consistency from VIFO in the tough scenarios where the sun is working against the camera and the bonus of 60 frames per second if you ever need it, which is something the lower resolution on the VIFO side allows for. Once the light drops, the F7NA starts pulling even further ahead.Watch T
So, what I'm going to do is look, go through it and see whether specifically it's suitable for an HGV cuz there are a couple of things I've noticed already that could do with a slight tweak. Nothing major. So, if you're interested in getting a dash cam, this is the three channel one, which basically is three cameras, front, rear, and the one you're watching me through now.Watch V
Others complain about returns crawling or being told to mail gear to faraway processing points and report repetitive copypaste replies. Patterns over time suggest Vio's hardware value is strong, while customer service varies by region and by channel, and the official site return window is tighter than big box marketplaces. That means the camera is not the gamble.Watch B
The VOFO A229 plus 3CH is a powerful feature-packed dash cam with great potential, but it's not perfect. If you want full coverage surveillance and don't mind a complex setup, it might be worth it. But if you want a simple, reliable cam that just records every time, maybe look elsewhere.Watch A
While the A229 Plus is impressive, it's important to note that when HDR is enabled, the front camera operates at a lower frame rate, 30fps versus 60 fps, which could impact video smoothness in certain situations. Also, the lack of an included memory card means you'll need to purchase one separately, which can add to your overall cost. On the plus side, the build quality of the A229 Plus is solid.Watch

Reason number six, the app connectivity is a nightmare. Users have reported that the app often fails to connect, making it frustrating to access footage or change settings. If you can't connect to your dash cam, what's the point of having one? Reason number five, reliability issues.Watch V
There are some critical issues you need to know before pressing that buy button.Watch
