Still a competent camera and PCMag-tested, but its aging sensor at a flagship price makes it a poor value; buy the A229 Pro instead.

The 622GW is ideal for drivers who prioritize absolute video quality and unique safety features over raw camera count. Emergency SOS is a particularly strong case for solo commuters, parents equipping a teenager’s car, or frequent long-distance drivers who spend time in areas with limited cell service.

But this has a really amazing 4K quality video with really impressive image stabilization. It also has a polarizer to reduce the glare, especially when you're driving in various sunny conditions. This is super helpful. It also can embed the data into the footage of your speed, your distance, your GPS, and more.

Taking the top spot has to be a Nextbase dashcam. These are high-end and currently offer the most features of any cameras. The highest in the range is the NextBase 622gw – not a fancy name but packed with advanced features.

In 4K 30fps, the 622GW produced genuinely sharp results. I could freeze frames and read plates at around 3040 ft with confidence, and the image stabilization dampened the highfrequency vibrations that usually turn detail to mush on cobblestones or patched asphalt. But then I switched to 1440p 60fps to see if the higher frame rate would help on fast merges. It did.

It ranks #12 (D tier) on our consolidated dash cams board, drawn from 22 cited sources across 18 outlets.

A years-old design at a premium price. Video quality has been matched or beaten by Viofo and 70mai hardware costing half as much. Alexa and Emergency SOS features pad the spec sheet, not the footage.

On our dash cams board, Vantrue N4 Pro ranks #6 (C tier) ahead of Nextbase 622GW at #12 (D tier). Vantrue N4 Pro: Useful three-channel coverage for rideshare drivers, but the worst support and consistency record among mainstream brands; buy a Viofo A229 series instead.

On our dash cams board, Nextbase 622GW ranks #12 (D tier) ahead of Nextbase iQ at #14 (F tier). Nextbase iQ: The most ownership-hostile product in the category: high hardware price plus a required subscription makes it the worst total-cost ownership proposition; a BlackVue DR970X Plus does the connected-cam job better with a saner cost structure.
