However, there’s absolutely no question in my mind that this is completely justified by the audio quality. These are quite simply the best-sounding in-ear headphones I’ve ever tried. Couple them to the near-AirPods-like convenience with greater comfort, and for me this is a no-brainer. Treat yourself: your ears will thank you. The Technics EAH-AZ100 in-ear headphones are available on Amazon . The older AZ80s are also still available if you want similar but not identical audio performance and are willing to trade off a slightly larger form factor against around a saving of around $100.

Should you still buy the Technics AZ100 in 2026? Since it was released in January 2025, for more than half a year I was daily driving the Technics AZ100. They may not have the best noise canceling, transparency, mic pickup or sound, nor have I seen anything that are the best in all of these areas at once, but the AZ100 achieved something very rare, which is being in the top tier in all of these areas without sacrificing any part. To me, it was the best balance, and sometimes they do go on promo making them even better value.

Overall, I think they're a great option for people who care a lot about sound quality and want something light and small. If you're the kind of person who likes to tinker with EQ settings and listen closely to music details, you'll probably enjoy them. They shine with high-res audio and really let the instruments come through clearly. But they're not perfect. The ANC is average.

On the other hand, the macro dynamics are noticeably better to me on the H3. And yeah, I don't even need to go into detail there. It's just a bit more blunted and soft on the AZ100. And again, that's why I macro dynamics for me better on on the H3. As far as the overall sense of resolution, I actually would give the slight edge there to the H3.
