When it comes to contrast and black level performance, the Bravia 9 II’s extra brightness hasn’t led to an increase in dark scene greyness or backlight blooming around stand‑out bright objects. On the contrary, the Bravia 9 II significantly improves over the original Bravia 9 in both these areas, delivering some of the deepest black tones the LCD world has ever seen (while still retaining excellent shadow detailing) alongside some of the brightest highlights the LCD world has ever seen.

The BRAVIA 9 II may also be one of the most anticipated TVs I’ve had in for review in quite some time. Sony first showed the TV to a small group of journalists at its Tokyo headquarters well over a year ago, followed by another demo event earlier this year. Since then, there’s been plenty of discussion about RGB LED technology and whether it represents the next step for LCD TVs.

I can say with a great degree of confidence that the Bravia 9 II is likely to be the people’s choice TV. Theoretically, if you sat a bunch of folks down in front of each TV — either with the TVs separated or side by side — I think more people would vote for the Sony. That’s not based on a mountain of empirical data, mind you — it’s vibes, albeit … vibes based on experience.

The Sony Bravia 9 looked a bit better to me in terms of preserving details and looking closer to the reference monitor. TCL X11L had some scenes where its image seemed slightly more vibrant due to higher brightness at the cost of losing small details. But I've read reviews that the 85" Sony Bravia 9 is noticeably better than 65" with contrast, blacks, and blooming control.

I know Sony does not advertise the Bravia 9 as a gaming TV, but it can game better than any LCD TV I've ever seen. It maintains brightness and does a fantastic job with highlights and dark areas without sacrificing input lag. Sony did their homework. As for blooming, it is virtually invisible from head on and only visible from angles. It's really cool.

Do you like punchy, wellsaturated colors? Well, the Bravia 92 delivers just that. The new RGB miniledd technology does some heavy lifting here, and the TV covers essentially the entire DCIP3 color space in SDR and HDR. The vast majority of HDR content is mastered in this color space, so you get to see the whole breadth of colors when watching most movies on this TV.

For movies though? Bravia 9 punches way above what you'd expect from a MiniLED. unfortunately it's very expensive so it's hard to not just say. use an OLED if you're watching movies b/c you can get them cheaper and they'll look as good or better at times (especially in dark scenes) and you won't have to almost ever be concerned with burn in b/c unlike games and PC usage, movies are always changing the image with no static elements.

The only real improvement I noticed was color volume. The Bravia 9 II does produce richer colors, but the difference is subtle unless both TVs are side by side. I've been extremely let down for one reason; the Bravia 9 II suffers from terrible blooming in comparison to my Hisense. The killer for me with this tv is the messy funhouse mirror effects with reflections since my biggest use case for a Mini-LED would be in a room with bad lighting. If I am controlling the lighting then personally I'd still go for a mid range 83" OLED on sale as dark room performance is still top priority and things like blooming will still be much better on any OLED.

(First tv was returned for excessive DSE) the past month I’m noticing a couple splotches now on the screen! More DSE… panel was near perfect until about a month ago but I’m noticing more issues. Has anyone with their B9 have gone through this? I do have a few weeks left of the year warranty and also purchased Allstate extended warranty till 2029. Both panels I had were manufactured in August 2024.

These two top-tier TVs represent the best in QLED and OLED technology, and I’ll explain why OLED consistently outshines QLED in contrast and performance. We’ll cover everything from picture quality to design, and throw in a few laughs along the way.

Unfortunately I have been underwhelmed by the Bravia 9. The core LCD technology still brings with it the usual shortcomings. I am now waiting for the price to drop on the Bravia 8 ii, which gives me the inky blacks and contrast of OLED, together with industry leading processing. An interesting review would be the Sony 8ii v 9ii, also comparing the LGC5, against C6/H6.

I upgraded from the 75” Bravia 9 to the 85” Bravia 9 II, but ended up returning it because, to me, it was actually a downgrade. The biggest issue is the new matte coating. While it reduces reflections, it also washes out the image, especially in brighter rooms. I’d much rather have the glossy finish on the original Bravia 9.

Lovely Looking Images in Everything way and Motion is Great but Not worth the $$$ Due to Cost of Living Globally and the fact it's LCD Based and Still not at a DELTA-E2 Like Computers is not Right for any Brand Any More these days as COST'S are through the Roof 😢

The main drawback of the Bravia 9 was its inconsistent brightness when displaying mixed cinema movie content. Regardless of the advantages of QD‑OLED panels, if their brightness can’t match the Bravia 9’s performance, they won’t achieve the same visual impact.

the bravia 9 was a total mess , you only had to stand 3 foot off centre and the whole screen changed colours, and the blooming was very easy to see, brightness isn't everything, sony have already proved that with the bravia 9.

unfortunately, the test results will decide my purchase. Im a heavy gamer. So if the TrueRGB is terrible with input lag and motion blur in game mode all over again like the Bravia 9, then I'm going with the LG G6.

Wait, the non pro Bravia 9 Mark 2 doesn't come with a backlit remote? And why onoy 3 years warranty for the Pro. LG gives 5 years for the G series.

I purchased the 65” Bravia 9 after my friend purchased the 75” Bravia 9. My last TV was a Sony as well that lasted 12 yrs. My friend steered me to the Bravia 9. There was nothing else that would change my mind. Football season, Olympic Games, I feel I went to every venue. This TV took me there and enjoyed every minute of it. Highly recommend this TV that is ready right out of the box.

But after being given the opportunity to compare an early sample of Sony's new BRAVIA 9 II True RGB LED TV directly against both the previous BRAVIA 9 Mini LED TV and Sony's professional BVM-HX3110 reference monitor during a brief session at the company's HQ in Tokyo, I think things may be starting to change, because what surprised &
