Unfortunately, high-end OLED TVs are expensive, but if you're looking for a great value OLED TV, the LG B5 is worth considering. The brightness on the LG B5 isn't as high as that of LG's more expensive OLED models, but you'll still enjoy good contrast thanks to its deep black levels. That said, it's probably not the best option for brighter environments, considering the limited brightness.

In this sense, I want to make it clear right now that the OLED B5 maintains the main positive points of the more expensive OLED televisions, that is, it delivers a perfect black level, has no light leakage problems, and has an incredibly good contrast.

It's a noticeable difference over my 2023 model QLED 75" Samsung QN65A and major difference over the old 20yr old 42" Samsung plasma it has replaced in terms of colour and contrast. A good friend of mine sent me a spreadsheet with optimal tv tuning settings to use which made massive difference to picture quality and is sending me his Xbox series S untill the Helix is released.

The images are stunning! The B5 has a bit less brightness than the upper models. BUT. in a dark room. it is amazing. Nice and bright! This review is spot-on. OLED is the way to go. Some folks have complained that there is no Mute button on the remote control. BUT: If you push the volume down button and hold it for a second or so. the TV Does go into Mute-mode!

This TV is perfect for film fans as it's self-lit OLED pixels give you amazing picture quality. Every single pixel produces its own light and can switch off completely, which means you get to perfect blacks and bold contrast in every scene. And with 100% color fidelity, the colors you see on screen are true to life.

I was surprised to see that the B5’s white tones were more vibrant and punchy throughout, delivering higher perceived brightness over the newer B6, despite what the measurements above said. While I can't confirm the physics of it, I suspect that the green tint on the B6 was having an effect on the perceived 'pop' of the white tones.

The LG B5 is the ultimate “Budget King” for cinephiles and console gamers. It delivers the core OLED promise—perfect blacks and infinite contrast—at a price point that makes high-end tech accessible. It doesn’t have the blistering brightness of its siblings, but in a dimmed room, it is indistinguishable from flagship displays.

Thanks for this great video review of the LG B5. I would definitely agree with RTINGS' assessment on their comparison page, stating ".the newer B5 model isn't worth the upgrade, or added cost, over the older B4". I'm impressed with the ability of both these B-series TVs to display an accurate image, but since the B4 is considerably less expensive, it offers a much better bang for the buck value.

Since it's their lower-end model with no extra brightness headroom, wouldn't that also mean the panel suffers from the same problems and durability or longevity issues from previous generations? There is nothing to suggest that the panel would hold up better than last year's B4, or even the B7 from 2017, all of which have a similar range of performance but now with a significantly lower price.

The B5's peak luminance is significantly lower than mid-range siblings like the LG C5, making HDR highlights less impactful and reflections more distracting in typical lit rooms. This isn't a subtle difference. It's large enough that picture quality in bright environments can feel subdued compared with slightly pricier alternatives.
