Excellent review ! In no-stress conditions and general pictures, Z5 II is fine and a great competitor and will please to most photographers. But for specific subjects and thus pushed to its limits and contrary to its concurrents (other Nikon models and Canon), it fails (steady images well focused on fast moving animals, isolation of a moving subject against a detailed background, battery autonomy

My hands are on the smaller side (about 16cm long), but I have zero complaints about how the Z5 II feels. The grip is fantastic. My fingers comfortably reach the bottom with a little room to spare, my pinky naturally finds a place to rest, and I never feel like I’m going to accidentally drop it (unless I fall asleep on the bus!). The textured grip material feels premium and refined.

I love my Z5 II . The only thing that bothers me is the WB in Lightroom. I have already posted this comment in another channel but would love your take on this one. The As Shot is accurate but if you look at the tint, it is way in the negative values. If you then use a WB preset from Lr (say cloudy), it brings the tint slider back to zero, making the picture way too magenta.

While this is not as feature heavy as some of its top of the line cameras, you get an enormous value with this model and it is a massive improvement over the original Z5. The new camera features a back side illuminated, 24 megapixel sensor, and more importantly the EXPEED 7 processor which is the same processor in the Z8 and Z9. Autofocus performance is on par with the top of the line models.

If I had no cameras and was buying a camera between the Z5 II, the Z6 III, and the Zf, I would pick the Z5 II. I don't do much with video and the sensors in both the Z5 II and the Zf is an awesome sensor to have. The ergonomics of the Z5 II would have been the deciding factor over the Zf. But since I've had the Zf for 18 months now, I'm used to using it with heavy lenses.

A An Entry-Level Full-Frame Camera? Article
For me, the Nikon Z5 II is one of the most sensible full-frame cameras in Nikon's current lineup. It doesn't try to be everything, but it does a lot right: good handling, strong image stabilization, modern autofocus, clean image quality, and usable video options. Above all, it doesn't feel like a stripped-down compromise, but rather a camera you can seriously work with.

I bought the Z5ii at the beginning of the months and I’m still impressed. It does everything I need - but nothing more - and this in a stunning way. Paired with a 35mm 1.8S and a 85mm 1.8S the image quality is excellent, especially the Nikon colors are great. First I thought about a ZF. In the shop I hold both in my hands and within seconds I decided to go for the Z5ii.

Of course the Z5II will shine in AF advances, and everything requiring the expeed7 power (eye tracking, animal detection,…) - but for (mainly) landscape and architecture photographers, there is little reason to upgrade or pay the extra money for the Z5II - you just won‘t see it in the pictures, and a lot of the other features (double SD-card slot, …) remain the same.

Very impressed with it. The low-light capability blows away my D850. I took shots of hummingbirds at 10k-40k ISO and with the denoising in Lightroom, they look like butter-no grain, clean. The AF is much better than the Z7ii I used to have (sold it and bought the D850). I bought the adaptor and my 200-500mm works just fine on it. This photo was taken at 20k ISO.
