A big move in the Move 2, is the battery life. The original Move was rated for 10-hours of playtime, and now the Move 2 is hitting a whopping 24 hours. Sonos tested the Move 2 at about 50% volume to get to 24 hours. If you’re a mellow listener, you might get more time, but if you’re a hammer the party won’t last as long.

The base test I think its bass has lots of gravity. It sounded deep and impactful without sounding muddy because it did preserve the vibratto of the bass drops. Now, if you're a bass lover, I think the move to is going to be quite enjoyable to listen to indeed. In fact, its bass response sounds very similar to the OG Sonos Move which came out 4 years ago. Now, just a bit about the first move.

The hugely improved battery life and touch controls with simultaneous Bluetooth and Wifi connectivity is a big jump, together with the stereo capabilities from a single Move 2, this represents a good upgrade but should you consider.

The Move 2 is amazing. I brought it on a cabin weekend with some buddies and they were raving about the sound quality. Battery life is great too.

The biggest difference in the front is that the Sonos Move 1 the Sonos badge is all white compared to the Sonos Move 2 has it more blend in with the darker Sonos logo, which I look which I think looks the best compared to this one that you can barely see it. Kind of blends in with the grill of the speaker.

Remember, if you value privacy, there’s no real point in buying the Move 2. As many individuals have already made peace with continued surveillance and data collection, this isn’t a hard no for all. For instance, Bose manages to tune a speaker to a room by using a headset tool without forcing your mics to constantly stay live to have room tuning; Sonos could do that as well so that you could turn off your mic. On the other hand, if you value talking to Alexa or Sonos Voice Control (hands-free) above all else, it’s decent but expensive.

After spending some time with the Sonos Move 2 there are some things I love and some things I am not a huge fan of like the price tag!

It’s way louder than the Roam but only 80% of the Move 2. The Bass does drop off around 80%. But still nice and clear at 100%. And now that it’s waterproof even better. Especially because we have a pool. I will definitely be taking the Play with me on trips. It’s the perfect size, I felt the Move 2 was just to Big and heavy. (The Play it is on the heavier side).

While technically portable, the Sonos Move 2 is probably not your first choice for taking on the go, despite the IP56 rating. At 7.57-inches tall and weighing just 1.3kg, the Sonos Play is arguably more obviously a portable speaker than the Sonos Move 2. Although the Sonos Move 2 is praised for its lift-and-move convenience, at 9.49-inches and weighing a heftier 3kg, the Sonos Play is definitely more of an appealing option for travelling.

Its size, weight, and steep price mean it suits buyers who specifically want premium sound and deep Sonos integration in a portable form. Budget-minded users or those wanting something truly lightweight may be better served by smaller speakers or non-portable Sonos models.
