Overall, the EC Zero T does not sound particularly like some of the less expensive R2R DACs I’ve had here, which tend to have very obviously blunted transients. If anything, it has quite a degree of clarity, even NOS mode with the tubes engaged. It would be interesting to compare it to the AKM-based version, which is cheaper, but I would guess, less “musical” as it uses a 4493 DAC, which I tend to find a bit edgy with some instruments, at least out of the devices I have here which have it.Read C Currawong Review unit from Shanling Currawong · 39.8K subscribers · Oct 2025
And now Shanling has sent me the EC Zero T, which is, well, literally a portable CD player. It even optionally comes with this quite chunky case, and I still have it folded up, but a strap that you can put on it as well. So you can literally use it as an old school portable CD player. And it's built, honestly, as good as any old classic metal Sony CD player that I've ever seen.Watch F Facebook ShanlingAudio
"The EC Zero T is a great sounding and well working portable CD player that can easily expand to desktop use, thus covering many needs of its owner. It is also the only one with a balanced R2R DAC and a tube output stage so it does sound unique and has more fine tuning options than the competition.View post H

If you need to drive very hard to drive, both can struggle at the level of susvara and LCD-5, but both can drive most earphones and headphones just fine. For a warm thick wooly sonic, RT-5000 is your choice, while for a more neutral, less colored sound, EC Zero T would be your guy.Read F Forever Analog Review unit from Shanling Forever Analog · 64.2K subscribers · Jul 2025
But let's be honest, I didn't spend $650 on this unit, so that's kind of easy for me to say. But I was glad to find that the unit worked properly in all its aspects given the price point, even if there are a few minor things I would update with the menu settings, the display brightness, and other similar itemsWatch H
