Fractal Design Torrent

Ranked #4 in PC Cases

638 LP on the category ladder what's LP?

Superb hardware, but you are paying flagship money and hauling a very large chassis for a thermal edge that the Meshify 3 and Lancool 207 have mostly erased. Buy the Meshify 3.

Flagged as a product to avoid

1 of 8 research runs entered this as a product to avoid rather than a pick.

A large, premium-priced chassis whose thermal lead over cheaper mesh cases has largely been closed; buyers overpay for its reputation as the best airflow case. The Meshify 3 or the budget Lancool 207 get you the same performance for less.

The Fractal Design Torrent Compact takes the well established Torrent and trims down some length and height without sacrificing that oh-so-good air cooling! Speaking of which, those two 180mm x 38mm fans on the front move SO much air, effortlessly and silently making this one of the smallest cases I've ever built inside of with THAT much cooling potential.

By delivering low noise levels, tons of airflow and some of the best thermals that we have ever seen, Fractal's Torrent is easily the best case that we have looked at this year. For that, The Fractal Torrent deserves our highest award. This is currently the best airflow case on the market, and for that, it deserves high praise.

The Fractal Design Torrent Nano isn't particularly a small case for an ITX motherboard, but where it truly shines is with it's compact sizing with full size hardware support. What's meant by that is: a full size ATX PSU, longer GPU's and large air coolers all fit comfortably making this case an ideal high airflow case for beginners and seasoned builders alike.

A 10 out of 10 review. Best review of the Torrent Compact on YouTube. So I think I get it - if you stay with one GPU, CPU air-cooling only, a single 3.5 in HD (or none) i.e., don’t deviate from a simple build if you don’t need more, then perfect. Quiet and superb thermals in a manageable footprint. Excellent.

Key limitations with this case are its requirement of an SFX power supply, rather than ATX. You also need to use a low-profile CPU cooler, such as the Noctua NH-L9 . It also can't be fitted with a window so you can't have a showy interior that's visible. It's also quite expensive, but this is reflected in its stunning build quality - that's solid wood on the front - and great performance.

It's got amazing airflow and fits a full ATX motherboard, as well as large GPUs. But there's a price to pay for reduced size, so we run through the major considerations you'll want to make if you're planning to build a PC in this case.

I really like the interior, nice and full with gear. But the lack of cable space, not so much. Seems like so many cases these days offer all kinds of interesting options, but too common that anything other that the "stock" set up makes for too many tradeoffs. Excellent review, as always, Leo!
