Pros & cons

✓ As hardware, one of the best air coolers ever made

✗ DeepCool was hit with US sanctions in 2024 and effectively withdrew from the US market
✗ Warranty claims, RMAs, and spare-part support in the largest market are functionally dead
✗ A cooler you cannot get serviced is a liability no matter how good the heatsink is

The new DeepCool Assassin IV VC Elite WH does better than the now old DeepCool Assassin IV CPU Cooler. Launched in May of this year, the DeepCool Assassin IV VC WH is a change in the inner design of the company’s flagship air cooler. While retaining a visual similarity to the original Assassin IV WH, the incorporation of a vapor chamber for its CPU block adds some more cooling potential.

The only negative to the Assassin-IV is the Pull-Pull fan design which means there is a lot of resistance getting air into the first fan. This means the Assassin-IV is extremely reliant on a case design that can deliver lots of fresh air to the immediate vicinity surrounding the front of the cooler. Its unfair to try and test such a unique design with no regard to intake air.

New air cooler to beat is the DeepCool ASSASSIN IV Vapor Chamber VISION. Almost the same design as the original ASSISN IV but with tad different approach on heat dissipation and of course, they added a nice and updated digital screen.

DeepCool Assassin IV definitely deserves your attention, if only because it is endowed with a rather unusual design and has atypical, but quite successful engineering solutions in its construction. The high efficiency of this cooling system allows you to easily compete with most RSOs, while offering an advantage in the form of a significantly lower price.

It's not hard to grasp the fact that DeepCool is taking up the throne with their new products, and the ASSASSIN IV fits the bill in the Air Cooler category. Oustanding stealth design and amazing performance.

I picked up the DeepCool Assassin IV 4 months ago, I got the black version and let me tell you. I really love it. It keeps my 5900X cool and never hits 80c at all. Best air CPU cooler I have ever used. Totally recommend picking up this CPU air cooler for those not interested in using AIO coolers.

So 5 months later, how do you feel about the assassin IV vs the NH-U12A at this point? I'm planning a build soon and both of the coolers are my final picks. Style goes to the Assassin that much is clear, but I'm more worried about overall noise levels. The NH-U12A noise tests I've seen are amazing and the Assassin IV is iffy at best but also 30% cheaper price wise.

The Assassin IV is one of the best air coolers we've tested recently, but it also bears a high price tag. This is a cooler that's sold on the grounds of quality, not value, and so we closely inspect build quality and ease-of-installation features.

Some reviews suggest it doesn't perform as good as the previous Assassin 3, however, the performance is still very good regardless, even with the i7 13700K. I'll take stronger aesthetics for the few degree temp hit!

As you can see the Assassin IV setup has an extra Intake Fan. That's because the cooler is so big, it basically blocks the top left exhaust fan. If I added an extra Exhaust fan at top it would be sucking out the fresh-air that the 3 front intake fans pulls into the case from the the Assassin IV.

It ranks #21 of 24 on our CPU coolers tier list, in D tier. That placement draws on 32 cited sources across 23 outlets.

1 of the 20 sources with a clear view is critical of it: KitGuruTech. DeepCool was hit with US sanctions in 2024 and effectively withdrew from the US market. Warranty claims, RMAs, and spare-part support in the largest market are functionally dead. A cooler you cannot get serviced is a liability no matter how good the heatsink is.

On our cpu coolers board, Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE ranks #5 (B tier) ahead of DeepCool Assassin IV at #21 (D tier). Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE: Tom's Hardware and PCGamesN both crown it, and its utter simplicity - a heatsink plus two cheap fans - means almost nothing can fail unfixably, which is exactly what long-term ownership rewards.

On our cpu coolers board, Noctua NH-D15 (original, chromax.black) ranks #17 (D tier) ahead of DeepCool Assassin IV at #21 (D tier). Noctua NH-D15 (original, chromax.black): Superseded by the G2 but still sold and still recommended. A decade of proven field reliability and continued Noctua support keep it ahead of every AIO here.
