Pure Rock Pro 3 is a respectable performer with a decent price-to-performance ratio, much like its sibling that is fully blacked out. It is capable of taming hot and power hungry CPUs, it even managed to handle a higher TDP before thermal throttling than the old but venerable Noctua NH-D15 on our AM5 and LGA1700 test platforms. However, it still ends up eclipsed by other models offering better raw performance in the same price range. ID-Cooling's FROZN A620 PRO SE is still a dominating force in the pure value segment, and Thermalright's Phantom Spirit 120 EVO and Peerless Assassin also prove to be better options in terms of raw performance and value.

Installing the be quiet! Pure Rock Pro 3 is an incredibly simple process, and for AMD users they provide both a standard and offset mount depending on your processor for maximum cooling potential. To get started the first thing to do on Socket AM5 is to remove the black plastic motherboard brackets. Then place the plastic standoffs in position and follow up by attaching the brackets with the proper screws. Since our test system uses a Ryzen 7900X, we used the offset mount positions on the brackets. With that done it's time to apply thermal paste if you're not going to use the pre-applied paste. For testing, I used Arctic's MX6.
