If your display tastes tend toward the reasonably gigantic, Asus’ ROG Swift PG34WCDN strikes a perfect balance between size and compatibility. The simple advantage of an ultrawide like the PG34WCDN over a larger (and more square) 32-inch 4K display is that more gaming desktops and laptops will be able to achieve great frame rates at top quality settings. This display, after all, has about 33 percent fewer pixels to deal with. While that affects the screen’s overall pixel density — still a reasonable 109 pixels per inch — at least you won’t have to scale your desktop because onscreen text is too tiny. This monitor also uses a brand-new subpixel layout that makes text look crisp and clear, an issue that has plagued some competing OLED displays.

This PG34WCDN is a 34-in gaming monitor with a 3440 by 1440p resolution, 360 Hz refresh rate, and a nicer 1800R curve, which I think is a much better choice for a 34-in ultrawide. It uses the same ROG Swift base that we've seen on a lot of ROG models in the past. And just like before, it is very well built, it is very stable, and it is definitely meant to catch your attention.

The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is the best overall high-end 21:9 recommendation according to RTINGS’ current 2026 ranking. The monitor combines a 34-inch 3440×1440 OLED panel with a 360Hz refresh rate and near-instantaneous response behavior, making it especially suited to a powerful gaming PC and fast competitive games. Buy it if: you want premium OLED contrast and motion clarity in a conventional 21:9 format, and your system can deliver very high frame rates. Skip it if: you mostly play at 70–120fps, need a genuinely inexpensive display, or spend many hours showing static office interfaces.

After all this, it's clear that the ASUS PG34WCDN is one of the best gaming monitors you can get right now, especially if you want an ultrawide. Of course, you have to pay a premium for its high-end performance, so if you don't have the cash to splash, it may be worth waiting a few months for it to go on sale, like closer to Black Friday.

If the MSI 341CQR doesn’t appeal – whether on availability, aesthetics, or just brand preference, the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is the alternative worth looking at. ASUS list this as the first monitor with a fifth-gen QD-OLED panel using the RGB stripe sub-pixel layout, and like the MSI it’s Tandem and runs at 360Hz. So on paper you’re looking at very similar panels – same generation, same Tandem construction, same refresh rate – with the differences coming down to coating quality (where ASUS tend to edge ahead), industrial design, and feature set.

As we previously reported, the ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN pairs a 1800R-curved 34-inch ultrawide panel with a 3440 x 1440 resolution and a 360Hz refresh rate. The biggest highlight here is the underlying 5th Gen QD-OLED panel from Samsung Display. Unlike earlier generations, it uses an RGB stripe sub-pixel layout that reduces color fringing and improves text clarity, addressing one of the biggest complaints about OLED monitors.

Conclusion: Is the PG34WCDN worth it? Absolutely if you value these improvements I mentioned in my post. Especially if you also use your monitor to work on it as well. The new RGB stripe with no fringing and fuzzy text alone makes this a good buy. If you only use your monitor to play and watch movies and otherwise have a dedicated work monitor, then less so.

This is the same document, same font size in PG27UCDM and PG34WCDN. Look at the edge of the letters. There's a subtle halo of color on the old panel , but it's there. Not this one.

So, is the ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN the ultimate gaming monitor? That depends on your hardware, games, and budget. For casual users, it may be overkill, but for serious gamers looking for a high-end ultra-wide OLED experience, it's definitely a monitor worth watching.

The ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is a premium 34-inch ultrawide for someone who wants fast PC gaming without accepting the older QD-OLED text compromise. Its 3440 x 1440 panel runs at up to 360Hz, uses an RGB Stripe subpixel layout, and has the pixel-level black control that makes dark games and HDR highlights look convincing in a dim or moderately lit room. The practical appeal is broader than gaming: the 21:9 workspace, USB-C charging, USB hub, and Auto KVM are useful for a desktop-and-laptop desk. The important limitation is also broader than gaming. This is still a glossy OLED monitor. Direct light and sunny rooms can make reflections noticeable and lift perceived black levels, while persistent toolbars, dashboards, and app chrome remain a long-term burn-in consideration.

The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is a very good ultrawide OLED monitor—but in day-to-day use, it’s not the revolution the marketing suggests. It looks and feels exactly like what it is: a high-end 34-inch 3440×1440 OLED with smart refinements, not a generational leap.
