While I’ve seen color fringing go from hard-to-overlook to hard-to-spot as panel designs have progressed over the last few years, the XG27AQWMG isn’t at the front of the pack even with its new Tandem OLED tech. This fringing manifests on the edges of fine lines (i.e., text). It’s not a constant nuisance, with black text on a white background rarely exhibiting the fringing. But I’ve seen it more of

Just when you think OLED monitors can't get any better, ASUS comes out with this, their brand new 27in OLED gaming monitor, the XG27 AQ WMG. This is a very fast OLED gaming monitor with a 280 Hz refresh rate and a 003 millisecond response time. But the biggest change in these new displays is that it is now using tandem W OLED technology.

This may look like every other OLED gaming monitor, but trust me when I say this is one of the most interesting developments in monitor tech in a while, so strap in as I explain exactly why. I’ve been reviewing monitors for over a decade now – I’ve designed and built my own tools to test them – and something special like this gets me incredibly excited.

What makes this new screen exciting and different though is that it’s one of the first screens to be launched using a new 4th Gen WOLED panel from LG.Display, also known as a ‘Primary RGB Tandem’ panel. This latest generation of WOLED technology promises improved brightness for both SDR and HDR along with improved colours, blacks and contrast.

The new ROG Tandem panel in the XG27AQWMG offers a crazy 60% increase in lifespan, 25% higher color volume and 15% increase in peak nit brightness. ROG has been on a roll these past 2 years with one of the most extensive OLED lineups on the market and best OLED care features.

I was initially planning on getting the ROG STRIX XG27AQWMG as my first OLED monitor. Unfortunately, it seems like it is widely unavailable in my country. Would you say that just getting the GIGABYTE MO27Q28G is a good enough alternative to that if the MO27Q28GR glossy is also not available? Thanks!

Featuring the new Tandem OLED panel, it gets brighter than the older WOLEDs, so it fights some glare well and makes small highlights really pop. It competes against monitors with the same panel, with the main difference being that it has a TrueBlack Glossy coating.

So, I think this is a super bad bang for the buck price for the price I got. Without further ado, um let's unbox this. It's got 3 years warranty. Okay. Uh before we open it up, here it is. It is a 27-in but actually it's 26.5-in OLED true black glossy. Uh quad HD here. This model is quad HD. 2560 1440. Up to 280 Hz rapid refresh rate. OLED care proper Asus.

The biggest strength of the XG27AQWMG is its gaming performance. Thanks to its near-instant response time and 280 Hz refresh rate, motion is incredibly smooth and responsive.

The only way I can describe it is comparing the experience to reading a book while being slightly cross-eyed. The text never seemed to be clear. I never experience something like this. I understand that it can vary between individuals, but I couldn't get myself around it. I tried to convince myself that it was not that problematic, that I was acting like a spoiled brat with my new toy.

Does the prev gen also have vertical banding, and, even more importantly, this weird non-uniform film grain on any darkish color when you pixel peep? (these are 2 separate issues). cause these are pretty prominent on XG27AQWMG and put it to shame vs a decent IPS, so I wonder if it's a woled issue or 4th gen tandem specifically.

Not only are there visible smudges on whats supposed to be a solid gray background, but also a lot of vertical streaks and what almost looks like scan lines. This image is not edited and looks pretty much like I see it in real life. All of these marks completely disappear on a fully black or white screen.

Writing this cause I am having issues with my 4 month old XG27AQWMG monitor. Usage time is 1000 hours and I have only used it for gaming (BF6, Hearthstone, and much else.) I have always had issues with vertical banding + white horisontal lines that are noticeable.

XG27AQWMG doesn't handle motion as fluid as AQN. I thinking about replacing this tandem oled to Asus at least 360Hz to compare. Now problems with tandem oled are not acceptable to me. My firmware is MCM102. Maybe new firmware solve flicker or bandings.

You can see uniformly spaced vertical bars of banding in certain test situations on this screen, and even some slight horizontal bars as well which give a rectangle grid shape pattern across the screen.
