It's a USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 drive, meaning it offers up to rated speeds of 2,000 MB/s, and in my testing, I found that it hits close to this rated speed for longer than most other reasonably priced drives of the same generation.

On the downside, while the SD810 offers excellent ruggedness and speed, its price point might be higher compared to some other portable SSDs with similar capacities but less durability. Additionally, the design is functional but fairly standard, so if aesthetics are a priority, this might not be the flashiest option.

The specification of the SD820 is almost identical to the SD810 that I looked at just a month ago, with aesthetics and capacity options being the main differences. It's a well-balanced drive, although you do need to be careful of the USB cover to ensure no dust or water ingress.

The Adata SD810 is for buyers who want the most performance per dollar on our board. The research found a very low price per terabyte, 1 GB/s speed, consistent benchmarks and solid endurance in PCMag's review. If you would rather pay more for a bigger support network and better software, the Crucial X10 is the A tier drive at the same 1 GB/s speed, and the Samsung T9 is the overall pick.

The research called its endurance reliable and PCMag's review backed that up, so longevity is not why it sits in B tier. Keep a second copy of anything important, as with every drive. If something does go wrong, expect a thinner support network than Samsung or Crucial offer.
