The bike’s leisurely appearance—a deep step-through frame, an oversize saddle with two coil shocks underneath, and an upright cockpit—is a surprising foil for how powerful the Discover 2 is. At 750 watts—the highest allowable wattage for an ebike in the United States—the motor has 75 newton-meters of torque. For comparison, most city commuters range from 40 to 80 Nm.

There’s no denying that the Velotric Discover 2 is a significant upgrade from the Discover 1, adding features and components that provide a noticeably more premium and refined riding experience. If you’re just interested in pedaling around with the grandkids, you may not need the more advanced features and can save money.

Now, this is the Bellatre Discover 2 and I still think that this is the best commuter ebike even in 2025. There are only a couple of bikes in my stable of bikes that I keep that I will hold on to until they come out with a new and better version of it. We can see the frame still feels durable. No rattles, no weird sounds. We leaned it on fences, parked it in tight spots, took a few bumpy paths. The body took all of it well. The paint didn't chip badly either. Just a few marks from everyday use. Now look at this side. The welds still clean. It didn't feel cheap then and it doesn't now. The rear rack stayed tight.

The good performance overall has been great. The motor's got plenty of power. I've got a Velri add-on basket on the back of my uh Discover 2, and I keep a cooler in it with drinks, uh backpack with a little bit of gear, camera gear. Uh we've got a 20 lb dog, which I pull in her little doggy trailer from time to time. So, it's got plenty of power.

Pretty cool update that Velri did. And I don't know that it's been covered much on YouTube. But I know it has in the Facebook uh Velri forums, the owners threads, discover two owners, that kind of thing. But I thought I'd do a short little video just to go over what they did exactly.
