The combination of the speed and tool-swapping technology has Sovol claiming the M1D can perform multi-colored prints five times faster than "others," displaying what appears to be a Bambu P1S in the comparison pictures.Read L

And honestly, this machine might be one of the most ambitious 3D printers we've seen in a long time. At first glance, I wasn't sure what to think. The name didn't exactly scream revolutionary. Like many of you, my first reaction was, "Okay, another new printer announcement." But the more I looked into the specifications, the more interesting things became.Watch T The Eddy Current Auto-Leveling 🧲✨ Facebook post

I don't know, but I'm super excited about all the potential that it has. So, dual X, what excites me the most about it? That 1 + 6. So, can you use the one for support materials and then the six for all the colors? That would be fascinating. I'm super excited to see that. I really want to know exactly how that works.Watch F Facebook sovol3d
If that’s what you expect from multi-color 3D printing, the Sovol M1D was built to change it.View post A
It looks really cool. It's also great from a workflow perspective. If you have smaller prints that you need a huge quantity of, this should help with time savings. Speaking of time savings, the tool head swap is supposedly 5 seconds. We will have to wait to confirm that. Per Sovol, they have a patented metal auto grip mechanism that makes it possible even during high-speed printing.Watch I Instagram Instagram post

But unfortunately I don’t see a filament cutter on any of the heads but being open source I’m sure someone will come up with something for the static head to do filament swaps. And if not there’s still Tip forming which would work great if a AMS Lite setup was used. Even with just 1 AMS added to the static nozzle that’s 10 filaments, 6 with quick changes and 4 with standard speed.Read thread T
All right, real talk. If you're a maker frustrated by filament waste and color change delays, and you're okay with early adopter risk, the M1D is worth your attention. The concept is genuinely innovative and the price is competitive. But if you need a proven software ecosystem right now, Bamboo Lab and Prussa are the safer choice.Watch I Instagram Instagram post

The Sovol M1D looks extremely promising and could become one of the most interesting budget 3D printers in its category. But until more long-term reviews arrive, cautious buyers may want to wait and see.Watch S r/Sovol u/issue9mm · owner

But, after sorting everything out, the print quality, speed, efficiency, and reliability of the M1D is really exciting. I know you want to see them with your own eyes, so let's get right into it. To establish a baseline, I reprinted a couple of familiar models. First, this chubby little penguin Levi liked so much.Watch T The Early Tests 🔧📋 Facebook post

The Svol M1D looks extremely promising, it looks different, it seems to have potential, but it 's still surrounded by a lot of important questions. If Sóol gets the execution right, it could be a very strong player in this niche. If you make mistakes with the software, reliability, and deadlines, it may end up being just another excellent idea that never gets off the groundWatch N
And then there's the M1D from Solvol. This one is genuinely exciting, but nobody's tested it yet. It's not even shipping to reviewers. On paper, it's doing something nobody else has tried. It's an IDEX printer, meaning two carriages that can be printing at the same time. But one of those carriages can also hot swap between six stored tool heads.Watch

Our recommendation is to wait. Back the Sovol M1D only if you are an experienced maker with a specific workload that benefits from its architecture, you already own a reliable printer, and you knowingly accept Kickstarter timing and first-batch risk. Everyone else will make a better decision after production units ship.Read S
