The noise cancellation on the XM6 is much improved, even over the previous couple of generations that received high praise elsewhere. The number of microphones has doubled to 12, while it also has a new adaptive optimiser that automatically adjusts the level of cancellation based on the environment you're in. Combine this with a new QN3 processor to help both audio performance and ANC, the first chip upgrade in some time, and it deals with virtually any noise effectively. Higher-pitched noises, such as background chatter and wind noise, can be difficult for lots of headphones to deal with, and the XM6s cut it down immensely, while retaining excellent cancellation for lower rumbles and hums.

Now that we've reached the end of our Sony WH-1000XM6 review, it's time to summarize the results. Sony has once again proven that it knows how to set the standard. Like its predecessors in the series, the new WH-1000XM6 is designed to be a hit. It boasts one of the best ANC (active noise cancellation) implementations on the market, excellent microphones, a wide range of features, comfortable sound, a foldable design, and a comfortable fit. In our opinion, the price could be lower, but you get what you pay for. Of course, it all depends on your needs, but if you're looking for the best wireless headphones on the market, you'll likely stick with this model for a long time.

After using the Sony 1000 XM6 as my daily audio driver for months now, I can comfortably say this: these headphones get almost everything right. And I have tried a fair number of headphones this year. It is not perfect, but it is fairly balanced and satisfies most of the demands regular — but discerning — users have. The XM6 sounds great, cancels noise better than anything else I’ve used this year, lasts forever on a charge, and is comfortable enough to wear all day. The return of the foldable design and the thoughtful new case feel like the cherry on the cake.

On the overall, I was like quite happy and satisfied with overall audio performance on Sony's XM6. Good stereo separation, wide sound stage as well with a well balanced frequency curve. In fact, I could easily differentiate between multiple instruments playing in the background in layered soundtracks also. Distortion also minimum and audio output is also loud and satisfying.

If there's one very noticeable and repetitive theme with Sony's latest WH-1000XM6 headphones, it has to be customisation. While it sounds very detailed and punchy for the casual listener out of the box, there's tons of customisation options to fidget with, whether it's the sound, the noise cancellation or even the way it reacts to different environments. And this makes it a very attractive and customisable listening experience that is really hard to ignore if you are out looking for a pair of premium active noise cancelling headphones.

Although the $50 price increase for the Sony WH100 XM6 compared to the launch price of the XM5 is unfortunate. I can confidently say that this is a great upgrade and worth considering because of its sum of its parts and refinement. The XM6 seems like the most mature release from Sony in their entire history of their WH1000 line. But I'd love to know if you think the same thing

I am assuming that at some point you might do some traveling with your XM6 headphones. And in that scenario, you might want to watch a movie or binge watch some TV series that you need to catch up on. And whenever you do, I would definitely recommend you use Sony's new cinema mode because this will take that signal from your phone or your tablet, which will likely be stereo, and upmix it into 360 reality audio. And honestly, this sounds just like you're sitting in a movie theater

The noise cancellation continues to impress, and Sony doesn't hold back when it comes to customizable features. The XM6's sound signature is a great foundation for all types of music, and it has room to be truly tailored to you. While the bigger size may scare some away, the fit is actually quite comfortable and will be good for long listening sessions.

Secondly, the noise cancelling is a smidgen better, which means you would literally be getting the best noise cancelling on the market

But elsewhere, I think the Sony XM6 are just the better buy. For me, the Bose have a less revealing sound that lacks the refinement and attention to detail Sony can deliver. Sony also supplies better balance across the frequency range, and even more customizable sound, making them my clear favorite sound-wise.

However, this perfection rests upon meaningful compromises: premium pricing, lack of USB-C audio future-proofing, and sound quality that doesn’t appeal universally. It represents one of the most powerful solutions currently available for those seeking silence, but not the only solution. The final judgment of its value rests with your own ears and philosophy in seeking this silence.
