Very good AVR overall, especially for music. Can be temperamental at times if you dynamically switch inputs. It seems to get confused and sometimes drops channels. Most of the time on/off resets everything. I run a full set of Sony Core speaker separates in 5.1.2 config. The Atmos and rear channel separation is just OK, not great but could just be the typical compressed streaming quality.Read W

A 2018-era design still being sold new. No network features at all. No HDMI 2.1. Basic DCAC calibration. Feature set predates current console and 8K passthrough needs - a dead platform compared with living ones.
On our av receivers board, Yamaha RX-V385 ranks #17 (F tier) ahead of Sony STR-DH590 at #18 (F tier). Yamaha RX-V385: The weakest product here: pre-Atmos, pre-HDMI 2.1, and still marketed to beginners who do not know better. Any current entry-level receiver beats it.
On our av receivers board, Denon AVR-S570BT ranks #15 (F tier) ahead of Sony STR-DH590 at #18 (F tier). Denon AVR-S570BT: Harmless but stranded: no network, no meaningful update path, basic calibration; the X1800H is worth the step up.
