In 2026, the PS5 Slim (1TB) remains the best all-around gaming console for most players. While the PS5 Pro offers more raw power, the base 1TB model delivers the best value-to-performance ratio for 4K gaming. Its mature library of exclusives from Spider-Man 2 to God of War makes it the clear leader in the console market.

Sony is confused about the message it wants to send to the market, but a clear strategy is that it needs to sell more consoles, and that's partly what the Slim aims to do: reduce the price. So that's the first positive point of the new version. Or rather, the ideal reason for you to have waited for this release until now before fully immersing yourself in the world of Sonic.

I like paying the exact same amount of money for 175 gigs less storage, and whatever else is lurking inside. (bell dings) Oh, God! Why is it in here so hard? There we go. So this specifically is the 2116 model of the PS5. So the "21" is just the new revision. All right, let's see what we've got. Luckily, they're still shipping you the little baby feet.

Not having enough storage for games is a common complaint among gamers nowadays, and the PlayStation 5 's storage problems may be about to get even worse, specifically for the digital edition of the console that does not come with a disc drive. Soon, some PS5 owners may have even less space to store their games and other media.

The OG PS5 and PS5 Slim’s had a design flaw that was fixed in late 2023 where, if the console was used vertically for extended periods, the liquid metal would pool at the bottom, leaving a dry spot on the CPU. This dry spot would overheat and the PS5 would shut down. This doesn’t apply to the PS5 Pro.

The PS5 Slim isn't a new standalone model. It's just a redesign to the regular PlayStation 5 – making them smaller and adding extra storage to both disc and digital models (1TB, compared to the 2020 model's 825GB).
